On November 13th 2005, Radio France Internationale broadcast the following news to the Asia Pacific region and the metropolitan area of Paris in Mandarin:
The U.S. has long been concerned about the fact that there is no freedom of religion in China. Given that, in the U.S. State Department’s annual report, China was relegated to the category of countries subject to special attention.
The report criticised China because its respect for freedom of religion and freedom of belief remained poor.
The report also said that some religious leaders, followers, and even those in some official churches were detained, arrested, sentenced or put into forced labour camps for re-education.
The report especially mentioned that China continues to arrest, incarcerate and sentence Falun Gong practitioners.
