Last week, several Romanian practitioners visited Moldova and met local practitioners there.
Moldova used to be part of Romania before it was taken over by the Soviet Union at the end of World War II when communists came to power in Eastern Europe. The language spoken in Moldova is Romanian even though many people were forced to learn Russian. The Republic of Moldova is now a separate country, after the disintegration of the Soviet Union, and it is also a very poor country.
A local practitioner told the visiting Romanians how Falun Dafa arrived in Moldova two years ago. At the beginning, the practitioners had no Falun Dafa books. They went without food to save enough money to use an Internet café for a few minutes where they could read the Falun Dafa teachings online.
Later they have received a CD and one copy of the main text of Falun Dafa, Zhuan Falun, from the Romanian practitioners in one of their previous visits. Moldova practitioners made several photo copies of the book. They treasured the book, the only copy they had at that time, so much that they read the photocopies and kept the book in a glass display case. Later they also received Zhuan Falun in Russian. Still, they did not have exercise music and for a long time they practised the exercises without music. However, none of these hardships made them stop the practice.
The Moldavian practitioners are professors, lawyers and judges, as well as students and workers from the countryside. A lawyer practitioner explained how he handed out flyers in Romanian about the persecution of Falun Gong in all his court cases. There are entire families that are practising Falun Dafa. The children read the Falun Dafa books together with their parents, with the same degree of seriousness as the adults.
The Moldavian practitioners take studying the teachings of Falun Dafa very seriously. After studying, they discuss their understandings; many of them are able to recite portions of Zhuan Falun from memory.
The Romanian practitioners left lots of materials with the Moldavian practitioners including books, CDs, exercise music including the exercise videotape, flyers about the persecution, a walkman and even a CD player which they can use for their exercise practice site. In addition they left copies of Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party in Romanian, a book published by The Epoch Times media organization that exposes the crimes of the Chinese Communist party, including its six years of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners.
