I used to be a long-distance running champion in college, with a very healthy body. In 2003, the local police officers "illegally arrested1" me, and took me to a detention centre. Later, in a prison hospital, I was injected with unknown substances. My lower body was bleeding, and I went into a coma. Afterwards, the bottoms of my feet bled and oozed pus, and it took over a year to heal.
On the evening of July 20th, 2003, the local police officers ransacked my home, took me to the detention centre, and then transferred me to the provincial prison hospital. In the hospital, I was tied spread-eagle with my hands and legs secured to an iron bed frame. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Secretary of the city's Political and Judiciary Committee was there to personally lead the loud shouting of the slogan, "Exercising the Dictatorship of the Proletariat" towards me. After the slogan shouting, I was injected with unknown substances. While being injected, I felt a stream of liquid running out of my lower body. I heard a female police officer shout, "The injection is causing bleeding." Then, I lost consciousness.
When I regained consciousness, my whole body felt so weak that I could hardly open my eyes. Amidst loud noises, I seemed to hear a voice of a middle-aged woman saying, "Finally, we rescued her." Since then, my whole body has had no strength, and I vomited blood and had bloody stool and urine. My limbs were numb and swollen, and my skin turned black and blue. I was constantly connected to an oxygen supply, while my hands were still handcuffed onto the two sides of the iron bed frame. I was locked inside of a room that was less than six square yards, with the iron door and windows tightly closed. The electric fan was turned off and two inmates were ordered to watch me outside of the door around the clock. Every day, I was forced to pay forty-eight yuan2 as a "maintenance fee." The room temperature reached over 100 ºF. My whole body was covered with a rash. The padding on the bed was dirty and smelly. Bedbugs were crawling all over the place, and my body was covered with welts from the bites. I felt the itch and pain, but could not do anything since my hands were tied to the bed frame.
Later, the two prisoners, to whom I had earlier told the facts of Falun Dafa, were ordered to monitor me, and they secretly told me what happened. The day I was injected with the unknown substances, my lower body started to bleed profusely and stained the bed sheet and my pants. My blood pressure was reduced to a little over 30 and my heart was also severely affected. When my heart stopped beating, I was rescued by emergency medical means, but remained in a coma. The second time I was injected with the unknown substances, the same thing happened, and later they rescued me again.
I was illegally detained and tortured for forty-eight days. My whole body was collapsing with exhaustion. I was also diagnosed with several diseases, one of which was contagious. The detention centre would not keep me there because of that. Finally, I had to pay a "fine" of five thousand yuan to be released for medical treatment. I returned home. During the forty-eight days of detention, I lost over ten pounds. After an extended period of being handcuffed, for more than six months I could not lift up my arms, and even now my four limbs often feel numb.
In 2004, after six months of recuperating at home, the unlawful authorities again illegally sentenced me to three years of forced labour. However, because I was diagnosed with several diseases including an infectious one, I was granted clemency.
After the persecution of Falun Dafa started on July 20th, 1999, I went to Tiananmen Square on December 12th, 2000, and called out the voice of my heart, "Falun Dafa is good!" "Return the good name to my Teacher!" I was holding up a banner which read, "Falun Dafa is good," with the Chinese characters in red on a yellow background. I was apprehended immediately, and held in the local detention centre for over two years, where I suffered from inhumane torture. I was afflicted with many illnesses due to the forced heavy labour, and I lost over 22 pounds. Not until the beginning of 2003, was I released from the detention centre under the order of "released for medical treatment." During my detention, I did not bend under the wicked persecution, and steadfastly upheld my faith in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Note
1. “Illegally arrested”: Contrary to what former Chinese leader Jiang Zemin, who initiated the persecution, and the Chinese Communist Party would like the world to believe, practising Falun Gong is NOT illegal in China. Although the Public Security Department issued an unconstitutional set of restraints on the practice at the onset of the persecution in 1999, no laws have been passed by the only legislative body in China, the People's Congress, banning Falun Gong or granting the police the authority to arrest Falun Gong practitioners for practising the exercises or distributing leaflets.
2. "Yuan" is the Chinese currency; 500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China.
