Kidnapping and Extortion – Methods Used Against Falun Gong Practitioners. Part 1

Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province

My husband is Li Jian, 40 years old and used to work in the sales department of the Xi'an Cable Factory. Because he practices Falun Dafa, he was conditionally suspended from work, keeping his employment position for one year and receiving a salary of 100 Yuan per month (about $12). Since I didn't have a job and we had two children to bring up, we couldn't maintain our basic needs. So Li Jian asked to quit his factory job at the end of December 2000 and the factory authorities agreed. He started to work in a private company and worked hard day and night. At about 8:00a.m. on October 30, 2001, Yu Yalin (or Zhan Yalin) from the public security department of the Xi'an Cable Factory called Li Jian with the excuse of "helping him find a job." When he knew Li Jian was at home, within 5 minutes, Yu Yalin, Meng Jianhui, a woman, a policeman from the Taoyuanlu Police Station and two officers from the "610 Office" [An agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Psrrty and all other political and judiciary system] broke into my home and required Li Jian to attend a brainwashing class held at the Changqing Rehabilitation Centre in Lintong City. Li Jian protested their illegal request and explained that he was the only one to support the whole family. Afterwards, Cai, director of the Taoyuan Street Police Station and several policemen pulled and dragged him into the waiting vehicle and forcibly took him away. After many people on the spot got to know the details, they were all angry. My husband Li Jian has been away from home for three months so far. No one cares about my daughters and me.

Yulin District, Guangxi Province

Recently, policemen from the Yulin District of Guangxi Province staged a large-scale arrest of Dafa practitioners. During this action, policemen illegally arrested many practitioners and interrogated them over 24 hours without a break. While the interrogations were in progress, Dafa practitioners were forbidden to use the restroom.

Furthermore, these lawless policemen extorted large sums of money from practitioners and confiscated practitioners' valuable properties. Sometimes they even broke into practitioners' homes to steal money when practitioners were not at home. Right now, none of the local practitioners have any video players. Some practitioners' television sets were also confiscated.

Huainan City, Jiangsu Province

Lawless enforcers from Huainan City's brainwashing class arrested Dafa practitioners before the Spring Festival. The enforcers firstly ransacked practitioners' homes before the arrests. If they found any Dafa truth-clarifying materials, they would take this as the excuse to persecute practitioners. They imposed the persecution on every practitioner and even carried elderly practitioners who couldn't walk to the brainwashing class. Now many practitioners are forced to live in exile.

Laiwu City, Shandong Province

At around 9:00 p.m. on February 4, 2002, a group of enforcers from the Xinzhuang Township Police Department in Laiwu City broke into an over 50-year-old practitioner's home when he was sleeping. Without any warrant, they forcibly carried the practitioner away in his underwear and illegally detained him at the township police department. Later they transferred him to Laiwu City's Detention Centre. Currently, the details are unclear.

Illegal Activities Of Officials

Changchun City, Jilin Province

From February 9 to 16, 2002, the "610 Office" in Changchun City again organized and ordered the enforcers from police systems, judiciary system, street administrative offices and various work units to report and arrest Dafa practitioners. This is the time of the Chinese New Year. However, these lawless enforcers kidnapped, abducted and arrested kind-hearted practitioners at their will without any legal warrants. This indicates these vicious people not only violated the national law but also lost their humanity. According to those who were assigned to work as accomplices in the brainwashing class were awarded 30 Yuan per day. Actually they are the most immoral persons from their work units.

Luchuan County, Guangxi Province

Since July 1999, police officers from Luchuan County had always threatened and persecuted Dafa practitioners, such as illegally interrogating practitioners, monitoring practitioners' activities and their private phone calls and detaining practitioners many times. During the last two years the enforcers have arrested and detained 83 practitioners and four family members of practitioners. Among them, 12 practitioners have been illegally sent to forced labour camps.

Policemen of Luchuan County relentlessly abused Falun Dafa practitioners during their arrest, their detention and interrogation. The methods of abuse are unscrupulous. In order to force practitioners to admit their so-called "crimes" that the authorities invented they threatened and grossly abused these practitioners. They took turns to interrogate the practitioners for two days without a break. The practitioners were not permitted to sleep or go to bathroom, and were forced to kneel down. In order to avoid recognition from practitioners during these abuses they covered the practitioner's heads with thick bags and then beat the practitioners to the point of sustaining bruises all over the body. The practitioners were forced to work over 15 or 16 hours per day. Those practitioners who could not finish the overload work on time were put in shackles.

The facts:

Practitioner Mr. Liu Xin and his wife were brutally beaten with the bags covering their heads. Now they have been sent into a forced labour camp.

Practitioner Mr. Xie Guixing and his family members were persecuted. His wife has been put into a forced labour camp.

Other practitioners have been persecuted and harmed, such as personal threats, home ransacking and illegal internment.

Names of chief criminals and units persecuting Dafa:

Xinzhou Police Station, Lucheng Police Station, Wenquan Police Station

Qiu Shuhua, the head in charge of persecuting Falun Dafa in Luchuan County of Guanxi Province; used to be a employed as a town police office. He was promoted to the county government to be in charge of persecuting Falun Dafa after becoming injured in a fight.

Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province

Policemen led by Xie Yubao made money from persecuting Dafa practitioners. In 1999, they brutally tortured 20 Falun Dafa practitioners from the Zhuozhou Exploration Mine as the practitioners stood up for the principles of Dafa. They beat practitioners, deprived them of sleep to force them to write the "guarantee statement" [to give up Dafa]. Many practitioners were beaten so badly that bruises covered their bodies. Practitioners' families were also extorted tens of thousand Yuan [500 Yuan is average monthly income in urban China].

Zhou Yumei, female, about 50 years old, was a resident of Lintun Village, Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province. In January 2002, enforcers led by Xie Yubo from the Zhuozhou Police Department kidnapped her to the notorious "Nanma Brainwashing Centre." She has held righteous thoughts and righteous belief at all times, and never gave in to the criminal enforcers. Later she was sent to the City Detention Centre because she clarified the truth to the head of the "610 Office. " There has been no information about her since then.
