On February 11th 2006, on the square in front of St. Michelle Church in Munich city centre, Mr. Solomon and Mr. Yuan Zhang carried out a 24-hour hunger strike to strongly condemn the CCP’s gangster violence in attacking Falun Gong practitioners Dr. Yuan Li, and also to support the renowned Chinese human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng’s hunger strike to protest against CCP human rights abuses. At the same time, renowned social activists Mr. Weiguang Zhong, Ms Lu Yang, Ms Ping Li and Ms Feige also participated in the hunger strike activities at other places in Germany.

Since the publication of the Epoch Times editorials “Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party”, the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) organised crimes and state terrorism are becoming more and more serious, which is a serious threat to the human life, peace, morality and conscience. It has trampled the modern society's mainstream civilized values and violated humanity's basic freedoms and dignity. In this helpless situation, on the 4th February, the Chinese renowned human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng appealed people who are fighting for human rights in China to launch a global relay hunger strike.

At noon on February 8th, Dr. Peter Yuan Li, a Falun Gong practitioner and chief technical officer of The Epoch Times, was attacked at his home by armed CCP secret agents; he was beaten and bound, and his laptops being stolen. In the afternoon of February 9th, the home of Mrs Chen, a Falun Gong practitioner and a staff member of The Epoch Times in Paris, was ransacked by CCP secret agents as well.

Regarding the incident of Dr. Yuan Li being attacked by CCP secret agents, Mr. Weiguang Zhong indicated that, in order to maintain their political power, the CCP has continuously employed gangster-style approaches for several dozen years; the CCP used all the means to control the Chinese populace. In the past, the CCP might not need to use such despicable means, because they could use the Communist Party and Communist Youth League organisations to achieve their goals, controlling every single Chinese person. However, in recent years, the techniques they used become more and more despicable, like the attempt to murder lawyer Gao Zhisheng.

The main reason for this is that the means they adopted all along now function improperly, they also know that. The publication of "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" arouses especially strong responses all over the world. Over eight million people have publicly renounced their membership of the CCP leaving CCP officials extremely scared. Thus they can only adopt this gangster style and the most inferior methods to carry out attacks physically, murdering and threatening to achieve their goals. This incident of attacking Dr Yuan Li in Atlanta fully reflects that the Chinese Communist Party acts out of desperation. However, what they have not expected is that, their actions actually let people realise that the CCP’s end is near and see the true nature of this terrorist organisation.

Hunger striker Mr Solomon said: "Knowing lawyer Gao Zhisheng’s proposal of the global relay hunger strike for human rights in China, I thought immediately that all people should support this matter. Lawyer Gao sent open letters to Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao, upholding the human rights, speaking out on behalf of the persecuted communities like Falun Gong, members of the Christian family church and the people who appeal to the higher authorities for help. Gao’s courage is admirable. It is a pity that Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao ignore lawyer Gao's open letters.

“Lawyer Gao has also received a succession of threats, including strict surveillance and harassment by a large number of spies, his law office being closed down, two attempted murders and so on." Solomon indicated that, the hunger strike is the final method for people to strive for human rights peacefully; so he wanted to join the activity.

It was the weekend; many people came to the city for shopping and sight-seeing. A lot of people were attracted by our hunger strike banners and stopped to watch. Some of them expressed their indignation towards the CCP’s tyranny. Some of them were very happy when they heard that the number of withdrawals from the CCP was approaching 8 million—they said it is a great thing. Some of them signed their names to support lawyer Gao.

Two boys aged 8 or 9 years old helped during the whole activity. At the end they even still helped to tidy up the site and clear any litter. Perhaps they could not totally understand the whole thing at their current age but they really wanted to participate in the activity from the bottom of their hearts.
