Yang Lijuan and Four Other Falun Gong Practitioners Tortured at the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City

Recently, guards at the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City shocked five Falun Gong practitioners, including Yang Lijuan, with electric batons. In addition, they were strictly monitored and forced to watch video programmes defaming Falun Gong.

Yang Lijuan, a Falun Gong practitioner in Jilin City, was open and aboveboard. After practising Falun Gong, she wanted to be a good and dignified person. During her illegal detention period in the Forced Labour Camp, Yang Lijuan never followed the requests, commands, or orders from the guards. Therefore, the guards tried to find all kinds of excuses to torture her. Because Yang Lijuan refused to attend the slave-labour activities, the guards punished her with long-term standing. While her fellow practitioners were force-fed, Yang Lijuan stood up to stop the persecution, which meant she was beaten with electric batons. In such a difficult situation. She constantly fought for the basic rights of living and freedom for fellow practitioners as well as herself. Yang Lijuan wrote and delivered a letter to the head of the labour camp. After that, however, five Falun Gong practitioners, including Yang Lijuan, were strictly monitored and forced to "study" the fact-twisting theories by watching video programmes defaming Falun Gong. In the afternoon, workers from the Discipline Department of the labour camp came to ask their individual ideas. At the end of the conversation they were told that the environment would not change and that they should "protect themselves".

The following is a list of persecution Yang Lijuan was subjected to in police custody.

1. The police used "electric needles" to torture Yang Lijuan during the interrogation.

2. During the interrogation, policemen put a 1-metre long by 6 centimetre in diameter steel pipe on her ankles. Policeman Di Shigang, about 1.8 metre tall and with a strong build, stepped on the steel pipe and rolled it with his feet. In addition, scars from the handcuffs were on her wrists and on the backs of her hands. There are two scars on the back of the left hand, one on the left wrist, two on the right wrist, and one on the back of the right hand.

3. There were bruises all over Yang Lijuan's back, below her nose, and her face was disfigured similarly to Gao Rongrong, who was disfigured and tortured to death. After about sixteen days, the outside layer started to peel off.
