On June 21st, 2006, the Belgian National TV station, VRT, introduced Falun Gong in an evening programme, Ter Zake, emphasising the Chinese Communist Party crime of harvesting organs from live Falun Gong practitioners. The Ter Zake programme with daily news and special reports on hot topics attracts very high ratings:
Host: Originating in China, Falun Gong is a spiritual movement which is also quite active in this country. Falun Gong accuses the Chinese regime of human rights persecution on a large scale. In China practitioners are arrested and tortured. Worse, their organs are allegedly harvested for profit. Amnesty International and the European Parliament have demanded an investigation.
An extraordinary picture at Citadel park in Ghent, about twenty Falun Gong (or Falun Dafa) practitioners gather here for exercises and sitting meditation every Sunday morning.
A practitioner told the reporter, “The exercises first make you relax, improve your health, and unclog your body. You will feel more at ease and pure. In fact your body is purified.”
The movement has gained wide popularity since the beginning of the nineties, with nearly one hundred million practitioners worldwide. In Belgium the number is also on the rise.
The President of the Belgium Falun Dafa Association, Nicolas Schols, told the reporter, “I think this is because in the superficial and money-oriented modern society, many are looking for something that will give meaning to their lives, they are looking for something spiritual. In my case, I am very interested in the Eastern way of thinking. I found Falun Gong very practical. It teaches everyone to look inside when in conflicts, hence elevating oneself spiritually.”
Nicolas continued, “The cultivation method is completely free of charge. With no organisation, no worshiping or any other form, it only tries to benefit people through the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. Moreover, Falun Gong is absolutely free. The ‘cult’ branding came from Communist China since the CCP started cracking down on Falun Gong.”
Indeed, only in China is Falun Gong persecuted as a cult, and for as long as seven brutal years. The CCP regime accused Falun Gong of subversion, which must be stamped out. The huge number of practitioners inside China, especially in the Party, the army and the police, formed a threat to the CCP power. Falun Gong has gone underground. Arrested followers would end up in labour camps.
According to a Chinese practitioner, Zhang Yuqing, “I was taken into a building by plainclothes police and stripped. All my belongings were taken away. I was put through non-stop interrogation without being allowed to sleep. Neither was I allowed to sit nor to lie down. I was more than seventy years old…”
Near the European Commission in Brussels, Falun Gong practitioners were holding activities with hopes to bring attention to a rarely known but extremely horrifying atrocity of the CCP regime in concentration camps practitioners’ organs are harvested and sold at high prices to foreign patients.
Chinese victim Zhang Yuqing: Such practice does indeed exist. Innocent practitioners are murdered. Photographs show that their bodies are full of holes. Even their families are prohibited from seeing their bodies, which have been cremated to destroy the evidence. This is not a story.
The Vice President of the European Parliament, Edward McMillan-Scott: “It’s simple and straightforward genocide, for money, which is one of the worst motives in history.”
For fear of China’s tremendous economic clout, few western politicians have the guts to investigate into the truth behind the allegations. Having nothing to do with Falun Gong, McMillan-Scott recently mustered up his courage to visit China. He is the first European politician that treated this case seriously.
The Vice President of the European Parliament, Edward McMillan-Scott: “When you select a special group, Falun Gong was selected; nowadays in China organ trade has a systematic process. A friend of mine in Hong Kong told me, a friend of his needed a new liver. When he phoned a hospital in Shenzhen, he was told “Come right away, we will find you one.””
A simple internet query demonstrates how easy it is to acquire new organs in China. Chinese hospitals brag about their organ transplant accomplishments on the websites. When asked about the origin of the organs, their answer was straightforward, from executed prisoners. While in Belgium a patient has to wait a few years for a matching organ, in China patients can expedite their organ transplant orders on the internet.
Edward McMillan-Scott: “The hospital staff said, ‘Yes, we will ensure that will be the liver or kidney of a Falun Gong practitioner.’ The reason for their saying so is because such organs are very clean – Falun Gong practitioners do not smoke or drink. They lead purified lives and their organs are of high quality. Their health life style, however, brings about horrifying consequences; they are selected for organ transplants.”
The CCP regime denied removing and selling Falun Gong organs. Falun Gong practitioners admitted the amount of evidence is not overwhelmingly large.
Nicolas Schols: We firmly believe these things are happening in concentration camps. They dare not disclose these things, which are also difficult to expose, under broad daylight. We sincerely hope these will be published as soon as possible.
Edward McMillan-Scott: “This is ordering organs by murder, which is the reason why many people including myself are very concerned. The CCP does not have any excuse. In my opinion if the international society and the UN China specialist verify even one such incident of selling organs for profit, the 2008 Olympics will not be held in China.”
Host: What is strange is that the CCP regime promised to adopt measures against organ trade starting next month, in obvious recognition of this issue. However, there was no mentioning of Falun Gong. So discussions on this topic will continue.
