Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Yang Jiandong is from Langfang City, Hebei Province. He is being detained in the Fourth Ward of the Jidong (eastern Hebei Province) Prison and is close to death as a result of severe torture. He is currently detained in the prison hospital, being kept alive on an artificial breathing machine.
The doctors are waiting for the higher authorities to decide whether or not to unplug the breathing machine. The Prison Administration strictly sealed the information from his family members and refused to allow them to visit him on more than ten occasions.
Mr. Yang has been brutally mistreated in the past several years. He was arrested on February 20th, 2004 and forcefully taken to the Kaiping Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City. The camp had to release him on June 8th, 2004 because he was as thin as a skeleton; he only weighed about 90 pounds. On January 29th, 2006 (Chinese New Year's Day), Mr. Yang and fellow practitioner Mr. Cao Baoyu were arrested when explaining the facts about Falun Dafa to government officials. They were both tortured severely. Mr. Cao was tortured to death on April 27th, 2006, and Mr. Yang was sentenced to prison.
