"Return my mother!" This was the agonising outcry coming from the 16-year-old girl Beibei. Beibei's mother was arrested several days ago because she practised Falun Gong.
Beibei's mother's name is Liu Shuxiang. She is a doctor at the Yehhu elementary school in Laishe City, Shandong Province. On July 17th, 2007, Liu Shuxiang went to visit her sick aunt in the hospital. She started to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong while waiting for the bus at the Laishe bus station. Some bystanders who did not understand the truth reported her to the local authorities, and the local police took her into custody. The MP3 player and the keys that she had with her were seized. The police also entered her home and conducted searches while there was no one around. Her computer, printer, materials, two sets of MP3 players, and other private belongings were confiscated by the police and her home was ransacked. Liu Shuxiang is currently being confined inside the Qiangdao Mountain Detention Centre on criminal charges.
Beibei is currently attending high school. Normally she wouldn't come home since she lives at the school. Two days later, on the evening of July 19th, Beibei went home to pick up her tuition fee. Upon her return she found that her home was locked from the inside and the fan and lights inside were turned on. Her key also couldn't open the lock and she couldn't find her mother. She finally got a locksmith to help her open the door. Her house had been ransacked. Clothes and other belongings were scattered all around and she couldn't find the tuition money that her mother left for her inside the drawer. Taking a second look, she also found her computer missing. Beibei was so stunned that she started to cry. She went to look for her mother everywhere, only to find out that the police abducted her even before she could board the bus at the bus station. Beibei lost her voice because of her agonised crying.
Beibei once had a perfect family. Her father was a part of the military. After a career change, he was transferred to work for a government agency. Her mother is a doctor. In July of 1997, Beibei's father died in a traffic accident. The stress from the tragic accident almost brought her heartbroken mother to the brink of mental collapse. From then on, Beibei's mother singlehandedly took on the task of raising Beibei and her sister. The heavy burden of life caused her mother to suffer from many kinds of illnesses. Her mood became sullen, and at times agitated. The smiles that she used to wear on her face were lost.
Toward the end of 1998, Beibei's mother started to practise Falun Gong. Under the guidance of the universal principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance", Beibei's mother regained good health. She became cheerful again. Laughter, joy, and happiness once again started to fill Beibei's home. It was the guidance of Falun Dafa's principles of "thinking of others first" that finally resolved her grief of losing her loved one and transformed this agonising sorrow into treating other people well. At the Yehhu elementary school, Beibei's mother's caring compassion for the children often moved the parents. She was universally recognised and praised by everyone as a good person.
Beibei really cannot understand why her mother, who is cultivating "Truthfulness - Compassion - Tolerance" and striving to be a good person, would be arrested for sharing her personal cultivation stories? Isn't every citizen guaranteed
Beibei missed her mother very much. She was told that after some of the Falun Gong practitioners were arrested, they were forced to abandon their beliefs and were brutally beaten by the police, some were shocked by cattle prods to the extent that their flesh was charred. There were others that were hung up and cruelly beaten, and injected with psychotropic medication that is harmful to the central nervous system. Some even had their internal organs harvested for transplantation for profit. All of these thoughts made her very sad and concerned for her mother's safety.
