On March 20th, 2007, Mr. Zheng Handong and other Falun Gong practitioners detained in the Qinduankou Jail of Wuhan City were transferred to Shayang City's Fanjiatai Jail in Hubei Province. Due to repeated persecution, Mr. Zheng Handong developed several illnesses. But the jail authorities refused to release him on medical bail. As the result, Mr. Zheng passed away at 3:00 p.m., August 8th, 2007.

Mr. Zheng Handong, 44, was a resident of Caohe Township, Qichun County, Hubei Province. He started to practise Falun Gong in 1998. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime began persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on December 27th, 2000, and was forced to become destitute and homeless thereafter. In February 2003, he was arrested by the police and was tortured to get a confession. In the same year, he was sentenced to a seven-year prison term and served the term in Qinduankou Jail, where one or more criminals were designated to monitor each Falun Gong practitioner 24 hours a day, including in the toilet. The detained robbers and murders were exploited by guards to torture and beat Falun Gong practitioners. Frequently, there was no water supply for Falun Gong practitioners to wash their face and brush their teeth or to shower.

On June 7th, 2006, all of the detained Falun Gong practitioners were concentrated in the No. 15 jail area under the pretence of creating a open environment. The true purpose was to prevent the spreading of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party 1 in the jail and the exposing the wickedness of the CCP. In July 2006, 22 Falun Gong practitioners wrote a open letter to jail guards to urge them to quit the CCP and its affiliated organisations. Consequently, the persecution was intensified. The political Commissar Deng Kailiang diverted the most vicious criminals to the No.15 jail area as personal monitors for Falun Gong practitioners. Normally, three criminals were responsible for one practitioner. And Falun Gong practitioners were not allowed to contact each other. Zheng Haodong and Qi Qingsong refused the jail-style hair cut and were isolated in the No.2 sub-jail area for persecution. For the same reason, Zheng Zhihong was severely beaten, and he could not get up and eat anything for three days.

On March 20th, 2007, Mr. Zheng Handong and other Falun Gong practitioners detained in Qinduankou Jail of Wuhan City were transferred to Shayang City's Fanjiatai Jail in Hubei Province. Due to the repeated persecution, Mr. Zheng Handong came down with several illnesses and was on verge of death. But the jail authorities refused to release him on medical bail. As the result, Mr. Zheng passed away at 3:00 p.m., August 8th, 2007.
