On June 12th, 2007 at 11:30 a.m., Guo Hongtang, Deputy Chief of the 610 Office1 of Shouguang City, Shandong Province, together with four officers dressed in plain clothes, drove a black car without a licence plate to Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Jiang Chunxiang's home in Shouguang City, Shandong Province.
Ms. Jiang was cooking lunch at the time when the group of officers came to arrest her. Ms. Jiang then explained the facts about Falun Dafa, tried to persuade them to quit the Communist Party, and also told them about the cause and effect of good and evil. The policemen not only ignored her words, but also forcefully arrested her and took her to the Luocheng Police Station.
Ms. Jiang's family members went to talk to the Party secretary of the village. The Party secretary phoned the police station to enquire about this matter, but the police denied arresting Ms. Jiang. The same afternoon, after asking for favours from acquaintances and giving away monetary items to insiders, Ms. Jiang's family members learned that she was being detained in a small cell in the police station.
Even though they pleaded to the policemen in front of the small cell for a very long time, Ms. Jiang's husband, brother and sister-in-law were still not allowed to see her. When the door was open a bit, they saw Ms. Jiang sitting on a chair with messy hair. Her lower body was covered with clothing, but she was not talking or moving. When the family members went to enquire about her condition, they were pushed out the door by several watchmen. Ms. Jiang's family members guessed that she had been heavily beaten and her hands were bound.
The next morning when Ms. Jiang's family members went to visit again, the watchmen did not open the door. When they enquired during lunch time, she was said to have been sent to Shouguang Detention Centre. The family members went to the detention centre several times. They were refused a visit but were told to pay 500 yuan2 for Ms. Jiang's living expenses.
After a month, on around July 13th, Ms. Jiang's family members suddenly heard that Ms. Jiang had been sentenced to one year in a forced labour camp and was serving the time in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp. The family members were not sure whether this was true and went everywhere looking for further information.
Ms. Jiang's father-in-law, over 80 years old, is paralysed in his lower limbs and is not able to take care of himself. Previously, Ms. Jiang had been taking care of him day in and day out without any complaints. She was well recognised as a filial and wonderful daughter-in-law. Her teenage son is still in school. Now, when he comes home from school, he cannot see his mother.
Ms. Jiang's father, over 80 years old, has leg problems and is confined to bed. Ms. Jiang used to visit him every week, rain or shine. The old man has heard about what happened to his beloved daughter and cries every day in bed, calling her name. He asks, "I have such a wonderful daughter, what law did she violate? What kind of a world is this?"
