610 Office Agents Arrest Highly Regarded Computer Teacher in his Classroom in Wanyuan City, Sichuan Province

On March 15th, 2007, Zhao Chenghua from the 610 Office¹ of Wanyuan City, Ye Xudong from Domestic Security, and other officials from these two units went to the Career Training College of Wanyuan City. They asked the school to cooperate with them to arrest one of their computer teachers, Mr. Xiong Zhengming, a Falun Dafa practitioner. Esteemed by both his colleagues and the parents of his students, Mr. Xiong even used his own money to help the less fortunate students in his class. He was arrested while he was teaching a class. Both students and teachers adamantly protested Mr. Xiong's arrest but to no avail. Zhao Chenghua from the 610 Office, Ye Xudong from Domestic Security, and the school Party Secretary, Li Shuman, arrested him and then broke into his room and took away some of his belongings, including his computer. He was sentenced to a year and a half of forced labour and taken to the No. 2 Detention Centre of Wanyuan City. On December 3rd, he was transferred. Mr. Xiong's whereabouts are now unknown.

Aside from this incident, there are other recent cases of practitioners being persecuted in Wanyuan City. Below are some of the cases:

On August 13th, Mr. Hu Yu, a teacher from Wanyuan High School, and Mr. Hu Xiaojiang, went to the countryside to distribute leaflets explaining the truth about Falun Gong so that the Chinese people could understand the unreasonable persecution and what Falun Gong is really about. They were reported. Ye Xudong, Wang Qiang, and others from Domestic Security arrested them that night and detained them in the No.1 Wanyuan Detention Centre. The next morning, Ye Xudong, Wang Qiang and others ransacked the homes of Mr. Hu Yu and Hu Xiaojiang and took away their computers and other belongings.

Hu Yu is the sole provider for the family. His family members took his daughter, who is only a few years old, and went the school as well as to the city Domestic Security many times, asking them to release Mr. Hu. The city 610 Office and Domestic Security refused to grant their request. In fact, they took him to a brainwashing centre located in the Dazhou Military Zone at the end of September. After the brainwashing session, they sentenced him to one year of forced labour. He remains in the No. 2 Detention Centre of Wanyuan City.

Hu Xiaojiang's family depends totally on Mr. Hu's small business to make ends meet. The city 610 Office and Domestic Security detained Mr. Hu and released him nearly two months later. Nobody knows how much money they took from him. Only a few days after he was released, he was again arrested and taken to the brainwashing centre located in the Dazhou Military Zone. He was released when the brainwashing session was over.

In late October 2007, city 610 Office and Domestic Security personnel attempted many times to ambush and arrest Wang Mingying, just because Wang distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. One day on the way home, Wang Mingying was arrested by the Domestic Security and detained at the No. 2 Detention Centre. Fifteen days later Wang was released. In late November, Zhao Chenghua from the 610 Office and Ye Xudong from Domestic Security went to Wang Mingying's house several times, attempting to send him to a brainwashing centre. Wang didn't cooperate but did tell them the facts about Falun Gong. In the end Wang had to stay away from home in order to elude them. Around 10 a.m., November 30th, when Wang returned home to fetch some clothes, Wang was arrested by Ye Xudong, who had been waiting there. Wang was taken to the brainwashing centre located in the Dazhou Military Zone.

On November 13th, 2007, 610 Office and Domestic Security personnel arrested Ms. Fu Yuefen, who was taking care of her 80-year-old parent in Jianyang. They sentenced her to one year of forced labour and sent to the No.2 Wanyuan Detention Centre, which is far from Jianyang. About three weeks later, on December 3, she was transferred elsewhere. Ms. Fu's whereabouts remain unknown.

On November 27th, Zhao Chenghua from the 610 Office and Ye Xudong from Domestic Security and others from these two units, together with plainclothes policemen, filled two police vans and went to Dazu County, Wanyuan City. Along with others from the Dazu Police Station, the Dazu Party committee, and the Dazu government broke into Ms. Song Xiongqiong's house. They arrested her and took her to the brainwashing centre in the Dazhou Military Zone.
