Bringing the goodness of “Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance” to an old classmate

My dear classmates, how are you!

I have received your letter and wondered how you have been recently. I beg your pardon for taking such a long time to reply to you.

In the letter, you expressed your worries about my practise of Falun Gong. If you had known of this matter before July 20, 1999, you would definitely not have such worries. However, you only knew of it recently, thus your response was unavoidable.

I wonder how much you know about Falun Gong prior to July 20, 1999. If you had heard the name of Falun Gong for the first time on TV after July 20 and made your judgement on Falun Gong according to reports on TV or in a newspaper, then it is not surprising that you have such a prejudice.

I’m sure you knew from history the tricks Qin Huai used to frame Yuefei and have also heard about the unjust and false charges that took place during the Cultural Revolution, as well as what caused it to happen. The tricks used in calumny and slandering were only exposed after they had been cleared. However how many people can remain clear headed when caught in this situation? It is said “the spectators see the game better than the players”.

Yet, it is the same with Falun Gong. Overnight, Falun Gong has been slandered and persecuted, our teacher slandered by numerous lies and practitioners arrested, beaten up, sent to labour camps and forced to leave their homes. If you still don’t know why all these have happened, I can tell you, it is because of their belief in “Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance”. In order to spread the principles of “Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance,” our teacher has suffered tremendous tribulations. His students have been persecuted and illegally convicted on the ground that their behaviour was politically motivated because they persisted in their belief and wanted to share the goodness of “Truthfulness, Benevolence, Forbearance” with others.

My dear classmate, please cast aside all the notions in your thoughts and make judgements with a pure mind. Is there anything wrong with “Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance”? Is there anything bad about it? All the virtues of the Chinese nationality are embodied in these principles. “Benevolence, righteousness, ceremony, wisdom, faith”- these were the virtues that shaped the character of a noble man in ancient times. Confucianism advocated the virtue “Forbearance”. “Benevolence” constitutes the fundamental teachings of Buddhism and the Taoist school aims to achieve “Truthfulness” in its cultivation. The virtues of ethnic Chinese have upheld the morality of human civilization for five thousand years, how can it be that these have become harmful all of a sudden? What are people thinking of?

As to the so called “self-immolation”, “suicide”, even murder as well as various slanderous rumours, these are obviously lies that defy logic. Just think about it. How can one who bears “Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance” in his heart, always treats people with kindness and considers others before himself, do harm to others? I don’t know whether you have read the book “Zhuan Falun”. In it there is a section that specifically mention “Practitioners cannot kill lives. . . . Killing will generate quite a lot of karma.” If so, then how can the practitioners who believe in the teachings commit suicide or kill others? It is not logical. For example, a videotape of the “self-immolation” left behind so many flaws that one would realize the entire incident was staged up if they ran the tape in slow motion. Yet up till now, the Central TV Net Work is still trying its best to cover up the truth – a typical act of making fools of the public. Obviously, Jiang is fabricating incidents to stir up people’s hostility toward Falun Gong and using this as an excuse to eliminate it. But how could his vicious dream be realized?

Now you might ask why Jiang would want to persecute Falun Gong? Is it because it is no good? Has it really brought harm to society? Before the persecution, the government had made a secret investigation on Falun Gong and got the conclusion: “Falun Gong brings about only benefits and no vice.” Another government official said “Practising Falun Gong can save the government approximately several hundred millions of dollars on medical expenditure yearly.” Didn’t Jiang always put stress on economic development? Why didn’t he approve of something so good?

Before the start of the persecution, an investigation made by the national gymnastic general bureau indicated that there were seventy million people practising Falun Gong in Mainland China, exceeding the number of Chinese Communist Party members. Thus it shows the extent of the popularity of Falun Gong and how widespread it is within the country. But the ruling party often does things against the will of the public. With no basis for his fear and disregarding the benefits that Falun Gong has brought to the people and country, Jiang insisted on finding fault with Falun Gong. In a vain attempt to eliminate Falun Gong, he fabricated incidents, paid a very high price and did not hesitate to employ huge numbers of army, police and special agents as well as all forms of media and propaganda. One cannot deny his foolishness for being so fearful of a group of kind-hearted ordinary people. Also, the way his subordinates used Falun Gong to get promotions, gain wealth and reap political benefits showed signs of his final destruction. When tyrants and vile characters are in power, society will inevitably be in chaos and ordinary citizens will suffer from hardship. His persecution [of Falun Gong] at all costs would also bring his life to an eternal end. The door of hell is already open for him. Justice has a long arm and the evil will not triumph over the virtuous! History shall witness it all.

Yet Falun Gong is Falun Gong. It will not deteriorate due to false charges nor can it be eliminated because of some individual’s fear of it. Presently, Dafa has spread to over fifty countries and regions in the world. People in various places have benefited from the goodness that “Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance” have brought about. It seems like Dafa will spread more widely and deeply. Yet it is only in Mainland China that Falun Gong is banned. Is this normal?

Falun Gong is not only a kind of Qigong where one practises the exercise movements for physical health. It has five-sets of slow movements and a set of profound teachings used in cultivation. It teaches people to be kind and uplifts moral standards. It emphasizes on the cultivation of xinxing (heart/mind nature) in order to ascend one’s level of heart/mind, ultimately returning to one’s origin. From the individual perspective, it leads to the improvement of physical health and high morality. From the perspective of society, it brings about stability, prosperity and enables people to live peacefully. Practitioners have benefited tremendously from it and are willing to recommend it to others. It has always been so whether it is prior to or after the persecution. Before the 20th of July 1999, about one hundred million people took up Falun Gong cultivation practice in China. This indicates the extent of the popularity of Falun Gong in China. After the 20th July, many practitioners continue to leave their homes and go to Beijing to make an appeal, clarify the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong to people so that they will not be misled by lies and at the same time also promote Dafa.

During this period, the precious lives of many Dafa practitioners have been taken away by the evil clique. The protests held by Falun Gong practitioners are entirely peaceful and rational: I’m sure you have never heard of them causing trouble. Everything done by Dafa practitioners is for the sake of arousing the kindness of people in their hearts. They do it out of benevolence and sacrifice all they have for the sake of others. They are truly the most upright, unselfish and magnificent beings. You should rejoice in having such a classmate and friend!

Perhaps you may still have many doubts in your mind. Then may I suggest that you read the book “Zhuan Falun”. It will answer all your doubts. Perhaps you may not quite understand the truth on the innocent persecution of Falun Gong. Then please pay attention to those truth- clarifying leaflets which are produced out of practitioners’ blood and lives! I hope this will help you recognize what events are taking place in the surrounding world in a more objective light.

If you still cannot believe what I have mentioned, I wish you would not casually make remarks and conclusions. Otherwise, you will deeply regret it forever in your life.

Please keep in mind: “Falun Dafa is righteous, Falun Dafa is good.” This thought will bring you the goodness of “Truthfulness, Benevolence and Forbearance”. History will witness all this.
