Mr. Lu Yunqing Died in Liaoning Province
Mr. Lu Yunqing from Xinbin County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province, was detained in Tieling Prison, where he contracted tuberculosis. He would cough up large quantities of blood. Mr. Lu was finally released when he was dying in March 2008, after many requests for his release were made by his family. He died at 2:30 p.m. on April 19th, 2008, a little over a month after he returned home,
Ms. Fu Ping Died in Sichuan Province
Ms. Fu Ping, 44, lived in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province. After beginning to practise Falun Dafa in 1997, all of her many illnesses disappeared.
Ms. Fu was arrested in 2000, while handing out Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution. She was locked in a cell for death row inmates for more than three weeks by officers from Gaoxin District. Ms. Fu was then sentenced to 18 months of forced labour.
Later, she was reported to the authorities while handing out DVDs exposing the persecution. Her home was ransacked, and she was forced to leave her home for a long period of time to avoid being arrested. After returning home, Fu Ping was under surveillance and could not study the teachings of Falun Gong or do the exercises. In addition, due to the ongoing harassment, she could not open her small restaurant regularly. Her former illnesses reoccurred and she lived a hard life. Ms. Fu died at the end of March 2008, her body entirely swollen.
Ms. Sun Huaifeng Died in Yunnan Province
Ms. Sun Huaifeng, 56, was a middle school teacher from Dayao County, Chuxiong City, Yunnan Province. She began to practise Falun Gong in 1998. When the persecution began, she was sent to a forced labour camp in 1999. Her husband was unable to understand her faith and divorced her due to the pressure of the persecution. Ms. Sun was later sentenced to four years in prison for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. She was mentally and physically tortured in prison, which resulted in her health failing and she became very weak. After being released for medical treatment, Ms. Sun could not take care of herself. She had no savings or financial resources because the school refused to pay her any retirement. Her son tried to apply for low income assistance, but the Neighbourhood Administration rejected the application. Ms. Sun died in February 2008.
