Ms. Yang Jinying, a Falun Gong practitioner from Baoding City, Hebei Province, was arrested and persecuted many times for practising Falun Gong. On August 7th, 2005, she was arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police for tapping into a local television network to broadcast the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was brutally tortured physically and mentally. Later she escaped from the hospital after breaking out of handcuffs, and became destitute and homeless. Her health did not recover and she died on June 21st, 2008.
Ms. Yang was 52 years old. She started practising Falun Gong in 1998. She had many illness before, including heart disease and many tumours accompanied by fever and pain, and she had completely lost the desire to live. After she started practising Falun Gong, her illnesses disappeared. She got along well with family members and neighbours. Whether managing a restaurant or doing other business, she always dealt with others fairly and considered others first. Everyone knew she was a good person.
Following July 1999 when the CCP began brutally persecuting Falun Gong, she went to Beijing many times to appeal for Falun Gong and was brutally persecuted by the CCP. She was arrested three times--in 2002, 2003, and 2005--by officers from police stations in Nanshi, Beishi, and Xinshi districts of Baoding City. The police brutally tortured her by handcuffing her and hanging her, beating her using electric batons, and force-feeding her. She never gave up her belief of Falun Gong.
On August 7th, 2005, at about 9:00 a.m., Ms. Yang was arrested while she was taking goods to the market. Police officers from the National Security Bureau in Baoding City carried out the arrest. The CCP police suspected that practitioners from Baoding City were involved in tapping into their local television network to broadcast the truth about the persecution of Falun Gong, and they arrested many practitioners from Baoding City. The CCP allocated 400,000 yuan1 in funds to establish a "Special Case Team" in Baoding City especially to persecute Falun Gong practitioners.
Yang Jinying did not cooperate with any of the CCP personnel's requests, or respond to any of their inducements. She also held hunger strikes to protest what was happening to her. During her detention, she was brutally tortured both mentally and physically. After a few months, she escaped from the hospital after breaking out of her handcuffs, and became destitute and homeless. She didn't have any resources, financial or material, and her health did not recover. She died on June 21st, 2008.
