Mr. Cui Dejun's Whereabouts Unknown and His Relatives Arrested

In the evening on August 14th, 2008, in Liaoning Province, Wafangdian City, Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cui Dejun's sister-in-law was arrested at gunpoint by the police from Dalian City and Wafangdian City. In the morning on August 15th, Mr. Cui's fourth brother and his wife were also arrested at gunpoint by the police from Dalian City and Wafangdian City at the store they own. Another practitioner, Ms. Sun, who was working in the store, was also arrested. Another employee escaped arrest because she was not in the store at the time, but her home was ransacked.

On May 12th, 2008, Mr. Cui Dejun, who was held in the No. 1 Division of the No. 1 Camp in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, started a hunger strike to protest the persecution. After 23 days, he became unconscious and then became incontinent for two days. The labour camp did nothing to treat him.

It is said that Mr. Cui successfully escaped from Masanjia Labour Camp on August 11th, 2008. However, Mr. Cui's whereabouts and physical condition are currently unknown.

Mr. Cui Dejun was arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials in 2001 and sentenced to five years in prison. He suffered brutal tortures in the Shengyang No. 2 Prison, formally known as Shengyang Dabei Prison, which moved to the Shengyang City Prison Centre in 2004. On July 9th, 2007 he was arrested by officers from the Gongji Police Station and held in Wafangdian City Detention Centre.

It is unknown when the Wafangdian City Detention Centre started using a new torture method called the "Rack." The "Rack" consists of handcuffs and shackles that are welded to a ladder-shaped frame made with metal pieces as thick as a thumb. The top of the ladder frame is about 30 centimetres wide. The bottom of the frame is about 40 centimetres in width. It is about 50 centimetres tall. Once a person is subjected to this torture device, they can neither stand, lie, or sit straight. Mr. Cui and another elderly practitioner from Fuzhoucheng Town, Wafangdian City, were tortured with this device for many days when they were on a hunger strike. The guard who used this device to torture them is Chi Qingfa. The Division Head who approved the use of this device is Liu Lin. The head of the detention centre is Zhang Hua and the political instructor's family name is Liang.

Mr. Cui had been held in the No. 5 Division at Dalian City Reeducation and Drug Rehabilitation Administration Bureau, which was also called Taishan Drug Rehabilitation Centre. He was sent to Dalian Dadonggou in September 2007. Later he was sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp in Shengyang City where he suffered more abuse.
