Aiqin Wang is the mother of Cork-based Student Tang Liang who is studying food science in UCC. She was detained in China in June of 2008 for distributing the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, a publication that exposes the history of the chinese communist party and the evil deeds it is responsible for during its time in power.

Irish Falun Gong practitioners have written to all members of parliament and senators in Ireland requesting them to ask the Irish Premier to raise the issue of her detention with the Chinese leader Wen Jia Bao when they meet today and to ask for her release. Many MEPs and senators have raised the issue with the Irish premier before he left for his trip to China.

In a press conference hosted by the Irish Minister for Education he was asked whether he raised the issue. He replied that it would be more suitable for the Irish Premier Brian Cowen to raise the issue in his meeting with the Chinese premier today.
