Father Rannenberg of the Heilandskirche Church gave a talk at the opening ceremony. He said, “These artworks convey one import message: Humans should live to their full dignity and we should fight for justice in China.” He said that he couldn’t imagine the suffering of Falun Gong practitioners in China before he viewed these paintings.

Regarding the Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance principles of Falun Gong, he said that in 1960s he believed that the Chinese Communist Party was constructing a mundane heaven in China and he was very interested in Maoism. However, he was stunned in 1970s when China opened the door to the world. “To me, it was a path to find out the truth. For this reason, I always pay close attention to human rights in China,” said Father Rannenberg.

After the opening remarks, Mr. Dietz, director of the Art and Human Rights Association gave visitors a guided tour of the exhibition. Some visitors were shocked to see and learn about how the Chinese Communist Party had been brutally and systematically torturing Falun Gong practitioners in China and many others were very interested in the paintings which depicted the beauty of the practice. After the opening ceremony, several people asked Falun Gong practitioners in the exhibition hall about how to learn the practice exercises and buy Falun Gong books.

The art exhibition will be open to the public till November 30th: from Wednesday to Friday, it opens from 12 pm to 6pm; on weekends, it will open from 12 pm to 2 pm.
