On the evening of September 27th, 2007, the Shengdengshi Police in Chenghua District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province gathered more than a dozen officers and broke into Ms. Kuang Xiaochun's home in the employee dormitories of Wuyuan Powder Metallurgy Co. Ltd. in Shengdengsi. They detained Ms. Kuang and took her to the Shengdengsi Police Station because she is a Falun Gong practitioner. The police then ransacked her home and confiscated a dozen Falun Gong books, her mobile phone and other personal items.
At around 5 p.m. the following day, Ms. Kuang Xiaochun was secretly transferred to the Xinjin Brainwashing Centre in Chengdu City. She was locked in a room and not allowed to leave. She was watched by two "assistants" 24 hours a day. She was monitored even when using the toilet. She was forced to watch slanderous television programmes all day long with the volume turned up all the way. She endured these things every day. The authorities also tried to force Ms. Kuang to renounce her belief in Falun Gong. Ms. Kuang was detained in the Xinjin Brainwashing Centre for more than four months.
On February 4th, 2008 Ms. Kuang was taken to a secret detention facility in Chongqing City. The facility was on a hillside and was known as a villa to the public. No outsiders knew it was a secret site for detaining practitioners.
It was here that members of the Chongqing Political and Judiciary Committee and their "assistants" carried out brainwashing in an attempt to force the practitioners to renounce Falun Gong.
On February 14th, 2008 Ms. Kuang was transferred once again to Jiangjin District, Chongqing City. She was secretly locked up in a rented room which was isolated from the outside world. She was the only detainee there, however, and there were prison guards, "assistants", people from the special case team of the Jiangjin Political and Judiciary Committee, as well as those from the Comprehensive Management Office.
One evening in October 2008, the Party officials were at their wits end in trying to force her to renounce Falun Gong and released Ms. Kuang. However, they tried to extort 24,000 yuan1 from Ms. Kuang Xiaochun in the name of a "security fee," "house rental," "charges for water and electricity," etc. Ms. Kuang refused to pay it. She had been detained for a total of one year and seven days.
