In 2008, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) announced that it would beef up security during the Olympic Games. Actually, increasing security was simply an excuse for intensifying the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
Mr. Zhai Wenbin is a practitioner from Handan City, Hebei Province. He was arrested for the third time and is being tortured in Handan Forced Labour Camp. His family didn't receive any information about him for over two months, and they are not allowed to visit him.
Mr. Zhai, 45, is a university graduate, and was formerly an employee of a state-run enterprise. He is very kind, demonstrates integrity, and has a good reputation. After he began practising Falun Gong, he strictly followed the standards of Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance to be a good person.
After the CCP started its persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Zhai was twice sent to forced labour camps and once sent to a detention centre. While in Handan Forced Labour Camp, he refused to give up his belief in Falun Dafa, so he was cruelly tortured and forced to do hard labour.
On the morning of July 23rd, 2008, several officers from the Shengliqiao Police Station arrived on his doorstep while he was taking a nap after working a night-shift. There have been many cases recently of practitioners being arrested or harassed in their homes, and knowing this, Mr. Zhai did not open his door. The police officers then broke in and arrested Mr. Zhai, and he was sentenced to forced labour for a third time.
Mr. Zhai's elderly parents live in the countryside, and his father is suffering from cancer. He also has a child in school. Both his parents and his child need Mr. Zhai to take care of them. Mr. Zhai's arrest has left his family in misery.
Mr. Zhai Wenbin is a kind, honest, and helpful person. Everyone who knows him feels sad for the hardships he has endured. A good person has been persecuted again and again by the CCP. We want to ask, "Why is it that murderers, arsonists, and corrupt officials are free from the law's punishment, and pornography, gambling, and drugs are widespread in China, yet the right to be a good person is taken away?"
