Mr. Chen Yongtao and His Wife, Mrs. Zou Danyu, from Guangzhou Arrested

On April 15th, 2008, Mr. Chen Yongtao and his wife, Ms. Zou Danyu, were arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) staff members. Their family went to the station to ask the police to release them. The police refused and would not allow the family to visit them, either. When the family tried to deliver some clothes on their first visit, the police would not allow them to give them the clothes, claiming that they did not have enough documentation. The second time the family members went to deliver some clothes, the police would not even allow them to enter, saying it was because of the Beijing Olympics. The third time their excuse was the Paralympics. The police told the family that they could deliver clothes after September 22nd, 2008. The family members asked, "What do the Beijing Olympics have to do with delivering some clothes?" The answer they got was, "It is an order from above."

Chen Yongtao and his wife, Zou Danyu, both Falun Gong practitioners, worked in administrative jobs. Ms. Zou is a chief director. She designed most of her company's regulation documents. After her boss approved them, the regulations were put into use. She is very diligent at work and has a very good reputation.

Their son is eight years old. At first, he asked where his parents were and wondered why they did not come home to see him. Later on, he did not ask that anymore, but his family members started to notice that he was very unsettled and easily upset. He began to speak in a very rude manner and did not want to study. He does not listen to his elders and says he wants to spend more time playing. He is very sad and has even said he does not want to live anymore. A child his age is supposed to be cared for by his parents. Instead, he has had to endure things no child should have to.

We appeal to the international community: Let's stop the CCP's persecution of people who believe in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance. Immediately release all detained Falun Gong practitioners unconditionally.
