Chinese Communist Party Officials in Yishui County, Shandong Province Again Harass and Arrest Falun Gong Practitioners

A meeting on January 7th, 2009 was attended by representatives from the following organizations: Yishui County Party Committee officials, the Political and Legislative Affairs Committee, the 610 Office¹, the Domestic Security Division, the Comprehensive Management Office and the police station. The purpose: to commence another round of county-wide persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The next day, led by agents from the Domestic Security Division, police officers and the Comprehensive Management Office personnel in every township searched each Falun Gong practitioner's home. If they found a computer, they confiscated it under the pretext of investigation; if they found Falun Gong books, they arrested the practitioner(s) and sent them to the detention centre.

The following practitioners were sent to the detention centre: Zhou Rong from Xiyuan Village in Shagou Township; Mr. Zhou Guisen and his wife from Wuizuo Village in Yishui Township; Mr. Zhang Jinlei and his brother Zhang Jinxing from Changzhuang Village in Cuijiayu Township; and Mr. Zhao Mingjiang from Baoquan Village in Xujiahu Township.

Details about Mr. Zhao Mingjiang:

At about 9:00 a.m. on January 8th, 2009, more than ten officers, including the county 610 Office head Chen Xilong, Xujiahu, police station deputy head Zong Shanbin and officers from the Comprehensive Management Office, broke into Mr. Zhao Mingjiang's home. They confiscated his belongings including a mobile phone, and took Mr. Zhao and his wife to the police station. Zong Shanbin and a police officer named Yu Hongwei removed Mr. Zhao's shirt and beat him for a long time, causing his face and mouth to become swollen and deformed. They sent him to a detention centre that night. They also beat Mr. Zhao's wife and didn't release her until 6:00 p.m.
