Before and after the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, the 610 Office1 and police in Xintai City, Shandong Province, continued to cooperate with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Below is a report based on gathered facts.
On July 4th, 2008, several police officers headed by Ma Yan, head of the National Security Team of Xintai City Police Department, and staff members from the "610 Office" in Wennan Town and Wennan Police Station arrested Mr. Mi Chengjie and five other practitioners at Shenjiazhuang Middle School: Wang Chen, Mr. Wu Bozhu, Mr. He Songsheng, Mr. Liang Jian, and Wang Lifeng. Mr. Wu Bozhu, about 35 years old, Mr. He Songsheng, 35, and Mr. Liang Jian were sentenced to two-year forced labour camp terms. Mr. Mi Chengjie was sentenced to three years of forced labour. They are detained to this day in the Shandong No. 2 Forced Labour Camp, which is located at Zhangqiu City.
Ms. Zhou Yonghua, about 45 years old, lived temporarily in the Pingyang Residential Area in Xintai City. Her hometown is Tonghua City, Jilin Province. On August 4th, 2008, she was arrested at noon by seven or eight police officers from the National Security Team. Because Ms. Zhou did not cooperate with the police interrogation and did not give up her practice of Falun Gong, she was sentenced to three years of forced labour. She is now detained in the Shandong No.1 Women's Forced Labour Camp.
Around June 20th, practitioner Ms. An Yan, a teacher from Xinwen Experimental School of Xintai City, was arrested by Xintai City Education Department and the 610 Office. In the detention centre, she was persecuted until she lost consciousness. Because Ms. An did not cooperate with the interrogation and did not give up her practice of Falun Gong, she was sentenced to two years of forced labour. She is now in the Shandong No. 1 Women's Forced Labour Camp. Because she has some illnesses, she was released on medical parole and is now at home.
Ms. Zhu Xiulin was forced to leave home to avoid persecution on September 2nd, 2007. On March 16th, 2008, she was arrested by police in Xinwen Township, Xintai City, and sentenced to forced labour. She is now detained in the Shandong No. 1 Women's Forced Labour Camp, which is located at No. 20 Jiangshuiquan Road, Licheng District, Jinan City.
Ms. Li Shuqin, about 40 years old, who lives in Sunshukuang residential homes of Xinkuang Company, was arrested on December 8th, 2008, together with Ms. Hou Yanxiang, about 50 years old. They were later sentenced to one year of forced labour and are detained in the Shandong No.1 Forced Labour Camp.
Mr. Wu Qizhou and Ms. Liu Fenmei, his wife, are from East Dujing Community. They were arrested by officers from Dongdu Police Station in Xintai City on December 20th, 2008. The police broke into and ransacked their home. On January 15th, 2009, both were released. However, this was after the two were beaten and sustained serious injuries, Mr. Wu, a broken leg (he has since had an operation and three pins were put in his leg), and Ms. Liu, a broken bone in her left hand. Detailed information will be investigated and released later.
Chinese New Year should be a time for all families to gather together and celebrate the holidays. However, these practitioners, who only want to be kind people, are suffering horrendous physical and mental torment. They are detained in forced labour camps and prisons and their families are torn apart. All people of conscience, please help oppose the CCP and its followers who are committing these acts.
