Divine Performing Arts (DPA) International Company held two shows in Hiroshima, Japan on February 15th. Many local Chinese people were deeply moved by the show.
Mr. Zhang, a businessman, agreed to be interviewed after the performance. Before saying anything, he cried. He told the reporter he couldn't help it. "I started crying at the beginning of the show. I was very touched by the fact that there is such a performing arts troupe overseas. I was a modern Beijing Opera actor. So I clearly know that the Communist Party ruined many good things in China. I am too excited now to talk."
A little later, after he had collected himself, Mr. Zhang came to the reporter again. He explained why he was so excited. "Let me tell you this. The Communist Party has ruined China. But now we have an excellent troupe overseas promoting Chinese culture. Let me tell why I am crying. This is the reason," he said.
"My mind is all abuzz now. All kinds of thoughts are going on. Why am I crying? Because I see the hope of China. We Chinese people have such a good arts troupe promoting our culture."
This was Mr. Zhang's first time seeing the Divine Performing Arts show. "The show let me know that China has hope. Without DPA, I think people would forget about our 5000-year history. The economy of China is about to crash, and a lot of traditional arts are also about to crash, including the Beijing Opera," he said. "But there is such a great troupe promoting and spreading our culture through the form of art."
Mr. Zhang continued, "The Communist Party has been lying to people for the last 50 years. I am objective. I am not biased towards anybody. I only believe in the truth. When the persecution of Falun Gong started, I was in China. I have talked to some high-ranking communist officials. I could not understand the persecution. I asked them, 'How can you arrest such nice people?'"
Mr. Zhang very much enjoyed Guan Guimin's singing and wished that Mr. Guan had sung more than one song.
