As it graced the stage at the prestigious Musikhuset Aarhus, Divine Performing Arts (DPA) 2009 World Tour was very warmly received with two long standing ovations. The opening night performance on March 9, marks the first time this highly acclaimed show has played in Denmark. Audience members enthusiastically applauded DPA.
DPA's Message Can Benefit a Troubled World
Joining the appreciative Danish audience was educator Ms. Hertz, who said, "This world we are living in, is going crazy, and if we don't understand the truth about who we really are, we can get very confused."
According to Ms. Hertz, the show has brought to the audience the awareness of a deeper meaning in life. Every dance, song and musical piece she said, "Communicates the love of life."
Ms. Hertz hopes that many people will see the show, "I recognize that this performance is very important for the people in the world."
As an educator, Ms. Hertz said she would like to incorporate the messages of truthfulness and the other impressions that she had received from the night's performance in her teaching. Before even leaving the theater, she was already being inspired with many ideas of how to convey the shows message to her students.
She added, "I just love it! When I saw the performance I understood the message fully. I very much adore the beauty of the dancers."
Eloquent and Extraordinary
Mr. Norup-Nielsen, a corporate lawyer from Aarhus, attended the show on Monday evening with his friend, Ms. Olin. "It was very nice, and the colors were extraordinary, also the dance and all the movements. We are very delighted," said Mr. Norup-Nielsen.
Because he has traveled extensively in Tibet, Mr. Norup-Nielsen was especially touched by the performance, "Dance of the Snow-Capped Mountain," "Very eloquent! I have traveled in Tibet a lot. So I liked very much the dance from the high mountains, with the snow. It was very energetic, very eloquent, very fluent and nice. So nice!"
"I think the show was very nice." One of the aspects Mr. Norup-Nielsen enjoyed was how the performances alternated between the dances and the vocalists. He especially enjoyed, "The piano and the singers, especially the male vocalist!"
"We Really Appreciated This Show"
Professional make-up artist, Ms. Vesterager, was so eager to watch DPA, that she and her husband drove two hours all the way from Copenhagen to Aarhus, exclaiming afterwards that they "Really wanted to see the show!"
She said, "I was most captivated by the soprano vocalist Pi-Ju Huang's performance, and I enjoyed the dances."
Her professional eye was drawn to the dancers, and she praised the way their makeup was done. "The makeup on the Tibetan dancers looked so very real, I actually thought they were from Tibet," said Mrs. Vesterager.
Pleasantly Surprised by DPA's Performance
A very pleased Mr. Amblard, who works as a global purchaser for an energy company, shared his impressions. "I didn't know what to expect, so I was very surprised, in a nice way," said Mr. Amblard. He added that the programs that made the greatest impression on him were definitely the drum numbers.
By his side was Ms. Allali, a food engineer, who was fascinated by the beautiful costumes. "There were hundreds of them!" she said. She found DPA music incredible and the artists' performances very good, especially praising the erhu performance titled "Hope."
"I really liked the scene with the pink flowers in springtime," Ms. Allali said that she had never been to a Chinese show before, "It was astonishing to see!"
Beautiful! Educational and Expressive
Ms. Baekmark, who attended the performance with her husband, used to trade in antique furniture, as well as oriental art, especially Chinese art, which she is very fond of.
Her favorite dance was Dance of the Yi. The Yi people are an ethnic group in Southern China who are known for their passion for music and dance, and in this performance the dancers share their delight with the audience by performing in their colorful, rainbow-like dresses.
Ms. Baekmark was greatly moved by soprano soloist's performance of, "Hesitate No Longer." Although she could not understand the lyrics without the help of the translation on the backdrop, this did not prevent her from enjoying soprano Pi-ju Huang's superb voice.
She added that DPA is not merely entertainment, but feels the show is educational. "I learned that people should treat each other nicely. I enjoyed it very, very much. It's so beautiful and impressive!"
