The parade started at noon on Olive Blvd. Participants held large banners which informed people of the quitting the party trend. Many people honked and greeted them as they passed out informational materials.
A rally was held after the march. Representatives from the service center, a local state representative, representatives from The Epoch Times, Falun Gong practitioners and a representative from the Vietnamese community gave speeches at the rally. A Chinese gentleman, David, quit the party at the rally.
Ms. Mao, the representative from the service center, said that 52 million Chinese have quit the party since the book, Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party was published. To help more Chinese quit the party, the service centre in Missouri was set up on May 23rd, 2008.
Jeanette Mott Oxford, the state representative from the 59th District, spoke at the rally. She said that she is concerned about the persecution of Falun Gong and other human right abuses in China. She supports Falun Gong practitioners' efforts for human rights and freedom, and appreciates it. She said people should stand together, letting the voices be heard of everyone who is fighting for basic human rights. During an interview after the rally, Ms. Oxford said there are many Chinese and Vietnamese in her district, so she knows well about the communist party's brutality in China and Vietnam. She hopes that she can help stop the human rights abuses in those countries.
Ms. Linda Wang, from The Epoch Times, called upon people to recognise the brutality and evil nature of the CCP and renounce it.
Dr. Xu Yin, an associate professor from Qinghua University, who escaped to the US not long ago, also gave a speech at the rally. He exposed the brutal persecution of Falun Gong with his own experience. On March 23rd, 2006, twenty police officers broke into his house and searched it. They found several Falun Gong books, and arrested Dr. Xu. He was sentenced to two years at the Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp in Daxing, Beijing. He was forced to sit on a small, ridged stool for 18 hours per day, and share a toothbrush and towel with drug users. Dr. Xu said that more than 40 Falun Gong practitioners at Qinghua University are imprisoned. One of them was sentenced to 12 years, and some have been tortured to death.
Dr. Xu said China will be stronger and get better only if the CCP disintegrates.
Pang Jin, a Chinese student from Missouri, called upon people to help her rescue her mother, who was arrested before the Olympics, and is still imprisoned for practising Falun Gong.
Mr. Nguyen, a representative from the Vietnamese community, said that Vietnamese have also suffered from the communist party's rule. He was glad to hear that many people in China have quit the party. He said that the communist party opposes humanity. He gave many examples exposing the communist party's crimes.
At the end of the rally, an engineer from China, David, quit the party.
Some local citizens said that they were glad to hear that many people had renounced the party. Mr. Dung Bui hopes the trend of quitting the party will bring peace to China and the world.
