Ms. Xu Xiaoping and her mother, Ms. Tang Guilin, are from Xinning, Hunan Province. On March 6th, 2008, they spoke out about the beauty of Falun Gong and the Communist Party's persecution of Falun Gong to the police on a bus. They were later arrested and their homes ransacked.
Ms. Xu Xiaoping was released in mid-April. She went to the Xinning Police State Security Section to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong and ask for the money that the police stole from her. As a result, she was arrested again in May and sent to the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province. She has been sentenced to one and a half years imprisonment.
Ms. Tang Guilin was detained at Xinning Detention Centre and sentenced to four years in prison. She is currently in Hunan Women's Prison.
Both Ms. Xu and Ms. Tang had health problems before practising Falin Gong. Ms. Tang couldn't take the college entrance exam due to an illness. After they began practising Falun Gong, they regained their health.
