Ms. Yan Xuebi was a Falun Gong practitioner in Suining City, Sichuan Province. She was arrested and detained many times and brutally tortured. As a result, she passed away on March 9th, 2009.

Ms. Yan Xuebi, 52, lived in Suining City. Before practising Falun Gong, she had many persistent illnesses. After she started to practise in 1998, all her illnesses disappeared without treatment.

Jiang Zemin's, [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] regime launched a brutal persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. As with other hundreds and thousands of Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Yan was arrested four times. Just because she told people about the persecution and spoke up for Falun Gong, she was tortured repeatedly.

In February 2000, Ms. Yan and other practitioners went out to post signs about Falun Gong. She was followed and arrested and detained for 15 days. The police and personnel from the local neighbourhood committee often harassed her and searched her home.

On November 24th, 2001, Ms. Yan was arrested by the Yucai Road Police Station. She was detained in a forced labour camp for one year.

On February 16th, 2004, officers from the Chuanshan Police Sub-bureau and the Yucai Road Police Station searched her home and took her to the Wujiawan Detention Centre. She was detained and tortured for 15 days. She was released after her family paid 500 yuan1.

On March 11th, 2007, Ms. Yan was arrested by the Shesha Police Station while she was explaining the facts about Falun Gong in Shesha Town. Later on, she was detained in the notorious Nanmusi Women's Forced Labour Camp for 15 months. In the camp, she was forced to do hard labour for a long time. She was also forced to take unknown drugs. One day, the guards ordered other detainees to pound on her arm. As a result she couldn't lift her arm for a long time. Due to extended torture, her health deteriorated badly.

On May 19th, 2008, Ms. Yan's family took her home. At that time, she was already very weak. After going home, she was still harassed and threatened by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel, causing her health to get even worse. On the morning of March 9th, 2009, she passed away as a result of persecution.
