At approximately 7:00 a.m. on April 16th, 2009, more than ten policemen forcibly entered the home of practitioner Mr. Liu Fuming from Dongpo District, Meishan City, Sichuan Province. They confiscated Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings. They also arrested Mr. Liu and his practitioner wife Ms. Shi Huafen. It is said that he and his wife are imprisoned at the Dongpo District Detention Centre.
In January 2009, Ms. Shi Huafen was arrested and detained for fifteen days. Now she is imprisoned again. Mr. Liu's elder son studies at middle school and his young son is in kindergarten. His parents are over 70 years old.
Since Mr. Liu's family members have practised Falun Gong, they have conducted themselves according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Practising Falun Gong has been beneficial to their physical and mental well-being. Their family is also more harmonious. Since former dictator Jiang Zemin [former leader of China and instigator of the persecution] and his gang started to persecute Falun Gong, Mr. Liu's family hasn't been able to live in peace. Officials from the 610 Office1, the Dongpo District State Security Team, the Suci Police Station and the Community Office on Tonghui Street often entered Mr. Liu's home and frequently harassed his family. Mr. Liu and his wife have been imprisoned several times.
In July 2005, Mr. Liu was taken to a brainwashing centre located in Liyuanshanzhuang, Wansheng Township, Dongpo District. Mr. Liu refused to write a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong. The officials from the 610 Office and the police from the State Security office tried to extort 10,000 yuan2 from him, claiming they would then release him if he paid, but he refused to do so. Mr. Liu was imprisoned at the Xinhua Forced Labour Camp in Mianyan for a year of "re-education through forced labour."
After being out of the forced labour camp for only several months, his wife was arrested and sentenced to a year of forced labour at the the Nanmusi Forced Labour Camp in Zizhong City, Sichuan Province. During this period of time, due to worry and fear, Mr. Liu's parents' health became worse and worse. In order to have his family live peacefully and keep his parents from being harassed by the police, Mr. Liu's family had to move to a new location. But the police still found them at their new home and arrested both Mr. Liu and his wife again.
