Ms. He Zhiwei, a 46-year-old Falun Gong practitioner from Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, was arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities and forced to enter a brainwashing centre. At the Zhanjiang Brainwashing Centre, she was persecuted and abused so severely that one of her cervical vertebrae was dislocated. When her family demanded her release for medical treatment, the brainwashing centre staff said that they would have to negotiate with the 610 Office1. They are still waiting for a reply.
On the morning of April 9th, 2009, a 610 Office agent knocked on the door at Ms. He Zhiwei's home, claiming he was there to perform an electrical inspection. After Ms. He opened the door, she was arrested and taken to the Sanshui Brainwashing Centre.
On April 27th, the 610 Office sent Ms. He to the Zhanjiang Brainwashing Centre. It is reported that Yang Jinhua, secretary of the Zhuhai City Politics and Law Committee, personally said that if Ms. He did not "transform2" at the Sanshui Brainwashing Centre, she was to be taken to the Zhanjiang Brainwashing Centre.
On June 4th, Ms. He's family went to the Zhanjiang Brainwashing Centre to visit her and found her in good health. While there, they confirmed that the phone call Ms. He's sister received after the arrest was not true. The police had told Ms. He's sister that Ms. He was arrested because she had distributed Falun Gong materials.
On June 15th, Ms. He's relatives received a call from the Zhanjiang Brainwashing Centre. The staff told them that Ms. He had experienced a bad headache since June 5th. X-rays showed that one of her cervical vertebrae was dislocated. Afterwards, when the family talked to Ms. He on the phone, this normally strong woman wept over the phone and said that her head hurt severely and that she was very dizzy. Ms. He Zhiwei's relatives demanded her release but still haven't received any word on the status of their demand.
