United States: Promoting Falun Dafa at August Moon Festival in Massachusetts

On August 23rd, 2009, Falun Gong practitioners joined the August Moon Festival celebration activity in Quincy, Massachusetts. They set up two tables, one for Falun Dafa and the other for the Minghui School. Many came to learn about Falun Dafa and some quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organisations at the table.

There are many Chinese people live in Quincy and the annual festival draws many Chinese to participate every year. This year, Falun Dafa practitioners' paper lotus flowers were very popular; many people wanted to learn how to make them. The practitioners took the opportunity to tell them the facts of the persecution of Falun Gong in China while they learned how to fold the flowers.

A Chinese lady who came to the US six years ago brought her daughter to the festival. She said that when the CCP launched the persecution on July 20th, 1999, she was a college student in China. She knew about the persecution and quit the Young Pioneers, an affiliation of the CCP.

One couple from Guangdong Province immigrated to the US and lived in Quincy. They realised the CCP had made up lies against Falun Gong after talking to practitioners. One of them said, "The CCP should not have suppressed Falun Gong."

A Chinese man who owns a furniture store had a table at the festival. Three of his teenage children were there to help. The children came to the Falun Dafa table and asked about the practice. A practitioner told them the practice could make them healthy and teach them high moral values. The practitioner also told them how the CCP persecuted the Chinese people. A boy asked about the incidents of Chinese men attacking Falun Gong practitioners in Flushing, New York. Practitioners explained to them that the CCP instigated overseas Chinese to commit the crime. The children told the practitioners they had all quit the CCP's affiliations after they came abroad.

A man originally from Fujian Province had a table selling clothes next to the Falun Dafa table. A practitioner told the man about the evil deeds the CCP had committed. The man quit the Young Pioneers using his real name.

A Chinese lady came to tell the practitioners that she used to practise Falun Dafa in China. She gave up the practice after the persecution started. Practitioners encouraged her to start over since she was in a free country. She wrote down the information she needed and said that she would start reading the Dafa books again.

Many Westerners and Asian people also came to the table to listen to practitioners speak about Falun Dafa and what was happening in the persecution. Some said that the energy field at the Falun Dafa table was very strong. Several expressed interest in learning the practice.

The Minghui School table drew many who were interested in traditional Chinese culture and the school curriculum. Principal Zheng said that many from Taiwan and China were interested in buying classic Chinese books.

A lady from China told the practitioners that her father had studied traditional Chinese literature before the CCP took over China in 1949. Her father taught her at home using these books. That was why she wanted to buy these books to teach her children.
