Currently, at least three practitioners have been detained in the Chejiaji Brainwashing Centre, and are undergoing brainwashing and physical torture. Practitioners being held include Ms. Wang Yuqing, who was secretly transferred from Guangzhou City to Wuhan City in March, Ms. Wang Youming, who is nearly 70 years old, and Ms. Song Wenxiu, a retired teacher and elder practitioner.

Ms. Wang Yuqing had been previously arrested on several occasions by officials from the Guangzhou 610 Office¹, and was detained twice in a Forced Labour Camp for over six years, because she persisted in her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999. She resisted the brainwashing attempts, so was secretly transferred by Guanzhou 610 Office personnel to the Chenjiaji Brainwashing Centre in Wuhan City for further persecution.

Hu Shaobin, head of the Chenjiaji Brainwashing Centre in Wuhan City, ordered collaborators² Suo Hanhua, Yang Zhengxiang, Qi Chunfang, Tan and so-called teaching assistant Li Hanying to torture Ms. Wang Yuqing by beating and abusing her continuously. Whenever she refused to co-operate, they beat her, then forced her to read books that defamed Falun Gong. They also forced her to write papers with such titles as "Happy Life."

Ms. Wang was only recently located by her family, but was then transferred to Wuhan City. Her family came from Guangzhou City to see her, but they were refused visitation by officials from the Chenjiaji Brainwashing Centre. During the spring and summer months, Ms. Wang Yuqing was not given any clothes to change. During the summer months, she was forced to remove her undergarments for washing at night time, and put them back on when they dried the next day. She could only wear a skirt at night.

Ms. Song Wenxiu, nearly 70 year old, has been detained in the Chenjiaji Brainwashing Centre since June 2009. She was force-fed, and as a result, lost some teeth. Her daughter, Ms. Li Shihong was arrested by 610 Office officials from Wuhan City in March, and detained at the Wuhan No. 1 Detention Centre until now. Her son-in-law was sentenced last year to four years in prison by the Baoan District Court in Shenzhen City. Her grandson was taken care of by her friend and relatives after the entire family was arrested.

After Wang Youming was subjected to the brainwashing torture, the brainwashing centre still refused to release her, and forced her to divulge the names and home addresses of other practitioners.

1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

2. "Collaborators": former practitioners who have turned against Falun Gong under brainwashing and torture. They are then made to assist in brainwashing and torturing practitioners.
