On September 17th, 2009, at a little after 3 p.m., police from Chongqing City Jiangbei District Domestic Security Team, along with officers from Huaxin Road Police Station, charged into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Songli to arrest her. Her son Gao Yang leaped up to protest and protect his mother. However, Domestic Security police officer Chen Xiaodong beat him to the ground, and policeman Liang Shibin forced his knee into Gao Yang's face. He then stomped on his face, wearing shoes, while continually cursing at him.
A large crowd gathered to witness the event, but no one dared to speak out. I was among the crowd, and it broke my heart to see a young man of 20 being beaten to the ground like that. Afterwards, everyone was denouncing the police's barbaric actions. In the end, Gao Yang was forcefully taken away, and Ms. Yang Songli shouted out, "Falun Gong is Good!" Her husband arrived home amidst the ruckus, and seeing his wife being taken away, he was very distressed. The police also stole the family's computer and printer, and other private property.
That evening, Gao Yang was picked up and taken home by his father. He was injured all over. However, Yang Songli didn't return, as she was to be taken to a Brainwashing Centre.
Because she explained the facts about Falun Gong, Ms. Yang Songli was held in a forced labour camp for one year and three months, from May 2007 to August 4th, 2008.
