Falun Gong practitioner Wang Yanyan, a resident in Yitong County, Jilin Province, was arrested again and sent to the Siping City Brainwashing Centre by Wang Yingchao, Director of the State Security Bureau and policemen from Yitong County Police Station at around noon on September 16th.
Three days before her arrest, Wang Yanyan had moved to the county and rented a room to be close to her 12-year-old son, who was going to middle school there. She was making a living by selling popcorn on the street. Right after she had come home at around noon on September 16th, Wang Yingchao and three policemen broke in to her home. Holding in hand a bunch of banners with words protesting the persecution of Falun Gong, Wang Yingchao questioned Wang Yanyan whether she had put up the banners, which Wang Yanyan denied. However, Wang Yingchao insisted that she did. Then the policemen demanded Wang Yanyan "study" at the Siping Brainwashing Centre for four days. Ms. Wang refused because her son needed her care. The policemen then phoned her mother-in-law, who lives in another village, asking her to come to look after the child. Then they forcefully started dragging Wang Yanyan away, while the boy was tightly holding onto his mum's hand. Perhaps due to extreme fear and anxiety, the boy fell to the floor and his body started twitching. Afraid of being held responsible for serious harm to the boy, the policemen waited until the twitching subsided, but still took Ms. Wang away.
One month before her latest arrest, Wang Yanyan and her mother had been arrested by Wang Yingchao and others for having talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong and having distributed DVDs about Falun Gong in Yidan County. The two women were detained at the county detention centre for 15 days and sent to the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City soon after. Wang Yanyan's mother was punished with one year of imprisonment, but the camp refused to accept Wang Yanyan, as she was handicapped by a previous severe burn covering 42 per cent of her body.
