Mr. Wang Wenzhang is about 55 years old and comes from Fuhe Village in Boyu Township, Xifeng County, Tieling City, Liaoning Province. He owned a small department store in the village. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, the Wang family has been repeatedly persecuted by the authorities. In June 2009, Mr. Wang was taken away by the police. Three months later, according to reliable sources, he was sentenced to four years in prison by the Court of Tieling City.
On the day of Mr. Wang's arrest, the local police broke into his house and took away all of his possessions, amounting to tens of thousands of dollars in value. Since then, his wife has been forced to leave the house. Sources report that she was arrested by police from Xinmin City in late September.
Prior to this incident, the Wang family had been subjected to severe persecution by the authorities. In June 2000, the police broke into and ransacked their house. They pushed Mr. Wang to the ground and brutally beat him. Mr. Wang was later sentenced to one year in a forced labour camp in Tieling City. At the same time, his wife was taken to the Masanjia Forced Labour Centre where she served one year. His two daughters were also taken to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp by the local police.
Mr. Wang started practising Falun Gong in 1997. Because of the benefits he received from the practice, he was actively involved in promoting it to other people, and he became the local assistant in his village. He had striven to live his life based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, as set forth by Falun Gong. He had worked hard on improving his moral standard, and conducted his business honestly. He was always willing to help people who were in need. Nevertheless, such a kind-hearted person has been cruelly persecuted by the Communist authorities and has suffered the pain of a broken family.
