On November 3rd, 2009, the head of the Nanjing 610 Office(an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong), Wang Yaling, led police officers from Nanjing and Lishui to arrest four Falun Gong practitioners: Ms. Sun Guanglan, Ms. Sun Guangyu, Ms. Xie Jine and Ms. Xiong Huimin, who are in their 60s and 70s. The officers also ransacked the practitioners' homes, searched their clothes, and confiscated money from their pockets.
Ms. Sun Guanglan had been diagnosed with cancer. After she started practising Falun Gong, her cancer disappeared and hasn't relapsed in eight years. Due to her belief in Falun Gong, Ms. Sun was sent to a forced labour camp by police officers from Lishui. During her detention, she was brutally tortured until she developed gastric bleeding. She was then released due to this condition. After Ms. Sun's release, police officers continued to harass her and arrested her again. She was then detained at the Jurong Detention Centre. Not until she was tortured to near death, was she released. This was the third time that she had been detained at the Jurong Detention Centre.
Ms. Xie and Ms. Xiong were detained at a brainwashing centre where police officers are known to brutally persecute practitioners with no regard for their age or health.
