On February 17th, 2010, Wang Yonggang, director of the Jiaxi Police Station in Jiamusi City, travelled with over ten policemen in two vans to the home of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Shi Hongwei in Qianjin Village, Changqing Township. The officers pounded on the door, attempting entry.
Mr. Shi Hongwei, his wife, and his daughter were all asleep at the time, while Mr. Shi Fengling, the elderly father of Mr. Shi Hongwei, was starting up a fire for the stove. He realised that the loud noise at the door was from the police, and decided not to open the door for them. The officers climbed over the outside fence and broke into their yard. As soon as they entered the home, they beat the elderly man and then asked him whether his family practised Falun Gong. The officers claimed that they received a report that his family owned a computer and printer used to print Falun Gong materials.
Several of the policemen ransacked one end of Mr. Shi's house, but didn't find what they were looking for. At the same time at the other end, other policemen pounded on the door. When Mr. Shi Hongwei opened the door, Wang Yonggang and his subordinates rushed in, ransacked the house, and beat Mr. Shi.
The policemen also tried to force Mr. Shi Hongwei's family to curse at Teacher Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong. When they refused, the officers swore at Mr. Shi, beat him, and put him in the police vehicle. Afterwards they arrested Mr. Shi Fengling and Ms. Wu Tiange, the wife of Mr. Shi Hongwei. The ten-year-old daughter was left behind in their home.
The three practitioners were taken to the Jiaxi Police Station and then interrogated separately, the whole process lasting one day and night. At approximately 10 p.m. on February 18th, they were detained at the Jiaxi Detention Centre. After six days of detention, only Mr. Shi Fengling was released.
Currently, Mr. Shi and Ms. Wu are being held at the Jiamusi City Detention Centre. When family members went to the authorities to request their release, the police officers claimed that there were too many Falun Gong materials found in their home, and fabricated a story that they had a printer in their home as well.
Recently, many police substations around the rural area of Jiamusi City have continually broken into and ransacked practitioners' homes, and have arrested the practitioners.
