Attorney Wang Zhansuo and His Son Detained for Over 30 Days

On the night of March 4th, 2010, Qingdao attorney Wang Zhansuo and his family were arrested. At present, his wife Song Jiling has high blood pressure as a result of the persecution. She was allowed to return home, but is being monitored there. Wang Zhansuo and his son Wang Xia are being held at the Huangdao District Detention Centre.

The arrest was ordered by a Qingdao City national security agent, and planned and executed by the director of the Qingdao Economic Development Zone Public Security Sub-bureau.

The Huangdao District Judicial Bureau has put pressure on local attorneys, not allowing anyone to defend Wang. In late March, the Changjiang Road Police Station transferred this case to the Xuejiadao Police Station Preliminary Hearing Section, which is under the jurisdiction of the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong).

Wang Zhansuo and Wang Xia are currently being held at the Huangdao District Detention Centre (also known as Liuhuabo Detention Centre). Wang Zhansuo is in cell No. 13 and Wang Xia is in cell No. 18. As they have already been detained for over 30 days, the Xuejiadao Police Station Preliminary Hearing Section is applying for an arrest warrant from the Huangdao District Procuratorate so that they can extend the detention time.

The Investigation and Surveillance Branch of Huangdao District Procuratorate is responsible for issuing the arrest warrants, and its branch head is Song Yunrui. Zhang Wei is the case officer for this case.
