Ms. Wu Wenjin lives in the Youhao District, Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. Agents from the Yichun City and the Youhao District 610 Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong] sent her to forced labour for a year and a half in the days leading up to the 2010 Chinese New Year. She was sent to the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Centre, where she was subjected to severe abuse for refusing to give up her belief.
When Ms. Wu's family visited her on April 21st, they found the formerly healthy and optimistic Ms. Wu emaciated. She had lost a tooth and her hair had prematurely turned grey.
Ms. Wu's older brother, younger sister and her husband visited her again on May 21, 2010, but officials denied them visitation rights.
Someone from the drug rehabilitation centre called Ms. Wu's younger sister on May 25th, 2010, telling her that Ms. Wu had developed a tumor on her neck, and asking her family to have money ready for medical treatment, but they refused to release Ms. Wu unless her family wrote a guarantee statement to renounce practising Falun Gong or signed a guarantee statement. Ms. Wu's family refused to sign. Her husband planned to pick her up and bring her home on June 11th, 2010.
After starting to practise Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Wu experienced tremendous positive physical and mental changes. Her chronic low-blood pressure, stomach pain and kidney problems soon recovered. She conducted herself according the tenets of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance and was considerate of others. Everyone trusted her and praised her as a good daughter-in-law. Unfortunately, she has been subjected to numerous incidences of persecution for remaining steadfast in her belief.
