Ms. Wang Lihui and Her Family Members Harassed, Arrested and Fined by Authorities

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Lihui from Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia has been severely persecuted over the past few years. Her phone is regularly monitored by the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and Public Security Bureau, and officers often come to her home to harass her family. Several times Ms. Wang's husband was harassed at work. Unable to stand it any longer, the family has been living separately for ten years.

On May 12th, 2000, Ms. Wang was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling the facts about Falun Gong to a group of people when officers from the Keerqin District Public Security Bureau, led by Shao Jun and Wang Bo, drove to her husband's work to harass him again. Under the constant psychological pressure, he has dropped in weight from 160 pounds to 100 pounds. His company's Party leader forced him to divorce his wife.

Ms. Wang used her younger brother's ID to buy a mobile phone in 2002. Her young sister opened a bath house and Ms. Wang helped her with its operation. They all shared the phone. Shao Jun and a group from the local 610 Office, along with the Yongqing Police Station, eavesdropped on their conversations and arrested Ms. Wang's brother and sister. They were told that they had to pay 500 yuan¹ or be detained for 15 days. The family struggled financially already, and had no money to spare. One son could not attend university because they had no money. Extorting 500 yuan from such a family was bad enough, but they didn't even provide receipts. Wang Lihui's second younger sister's husband (Ms. Wang's brother-in-law) was arrested and taken to the Yongqing Police Station and forced to stand for 24 hours. The police grabbed him by the hair and slammed his head against the wall. His son then took his father's place and stood for 24 hours.

Ms. Wang's brother-in-law was extremely scared and was forced to tell everything he knew about Ms. Wang's actions and whereabouts. When the police still could not get what they wanted, they threatened him with a fine of 2,000 yuan. After some pleading, the amount was reduced to 1,000 yuan, but no receipt was provided.

Shao Jun then led a group of police from the Domestic Security Division to Ms. Wang's third younger sister's home to look for Ms. Wang. At that time, her sister's husband was in very bad health, and had a severe heart attack.

In 2004, Ms. Wang was talking about Falun Gong to a young child on a train from Tongliao City to Huhehaote, and was reported to the authorities by another student. At Jining Train Station, train conductor Zhan and train policeman Yang searched Ms Wang's bag and took her books, CD's and USB flash drives. Ms. Wang was taken to Huhehaote's Train Station Police Station where two policewomen searched her. Ms. Wang and her son (not a practitioner) were detained for three days. Her son knelt down in front of the authorities and begged them to release his mother.

After listening to conversations on Ms. Wang's phone, Shao Jun and others from the 610 Office came to her husband's workplace several times to look for her. They later broke into her house and confiscated her books, mobile phones, radio, personal computer (including every single cable) and Falun Gong lectures. At Huhehaote, Wang Bo said that if she said, "Falun Gong is good," they would handcuff her. Three thousand yuan was taken from her and she was detained for another twenty-four hours before being released.
