Sixty two year old practitioner Han Xiaorui from Chengliu Village, Chengliu Township in Jiyuan City, Henan Province was detained and beaten by personnel from Jiyuan City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and Domestic Security Division.
Ms. Han Xiaorui had for many years suffered from more than ten diseases, including heart disease, gastric disease, rheumatism, arthritis, gynaecological disease, and breast cancer. She had visited many doctors and tried various medicines, but nothing was effective.
Ms. Han Xiaorui began practising Falun Gong in 2002. She has done her best to conduct herself in accordance with Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Her family life has become more harmonious and she has recovered from all diseases except breast cancer.
Ms. Han wanted to tell more people suffering from diseases about this miraculous practice, from which she has gained great benefits. However, her compassionate act was labelled as "reactionary" by the Jiyuan City 610 Office and Domestic Security Division. They detained and persecuted her many times. Over the course of one year, Ms. Han was held in a detention centre four times, and was deprived of food and sleep for several days every time she was detained.
At the time she was arrested, Ms. Han was still in the process of overcoming breast cancer, and needed a large amount of toilet paper and sanitary pads to clean up the blood. However, the police stole the toilet paper that her family sent, forcing Ms. Han to buy the over-priced toilet paper from the authorities. It wasn't until they saw that Ms. Han's condition had deteriorated, and that she was on the verge of death, that she was released for medical treatment. Ms. Han was harassed and threatened from time to time at her home and she was too scared and stressed to live a normal life. Her condition deteriorated rapidly and her weight dropped from 133 to 78 pounds.
Just three days before her son got married, under the direction from Jinyuan City 610 Office, police officer Miao Dongming from the Domestic Security Division broke into Ms. Han's home with a group of officers and arrested Ms. Han without following any legal procedures. She was sent to Xinxiang Women's Prison the same day.
Every time Ms. Han Xiaorui was persecuted, she was asked why she wanted to practise Falun Gong and why she was against the government. Ms. Han said she was not against the government, she just wanted to be a good person and a healthy person. Falun Gong teaches people to act in accordance with Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She was often beaten before finishing her explanation. They slapped her face with books and a towel. Her body was full of bruises and she was not allowed to moan or cry.
