Forcing a Son To Denounce His Own Parents, Chengdu City 610 Office Uses Methods Not Seen Since the Cultural Revolution

Huang Xu, a staff member with the Baihe Credit Co-operative in Longquanyi District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, was pressured by Chengdu City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) to persecute his own parents in order to keep his job.

His parents, Mr. Huang Shilin and Ms. Yang Ying are a kind, peace-loving couple who both practise Falun Gong. Despite the Communist regime's posing as a modern country, the tragedy of children harming and denouncing their own parents that took place during the Cultural Revolution is sadly once again taking place in today's China.

Last year, Ms. Yang Ying, Huang Xu's mother, was arrested by plainclothes police officers while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong, and was sent to the Longquan Detention Centre. The local police wanted to extort 5,000 yuan¹ from Ms. Yang. To appease them, Huang Yong, Ms. Yang's third son, gave them 3,000 yuan, but the police demanded the additional 2,000 yuan. 610 Office official Ma Chuanqiang continued to pressure Huang Yong, but Huang Yong didn't respond. Official Ma Chuanqiang then found Ms. Yang's oldest son, Huang Xu, went to his workplace and forced him to hand over the additional 2,000 yuan.

On April 28th, 2010, Ma Chuanqiang called Huang Yong, ordering him to send his parents to the Xinjin Brainwashing Centre. Huang Yong refused. Then Ma Chuanqiang repeatedly kept calling Huang Yong and harassing him. At the end of this May 2010, Ma Chuanqiang called Huang Yong again, ordering him to make his parents write guarantee statements to renounce practising Falun Gong. Still, Huang Yong gave no response.

Afterwards, 610 Office director He Weijin had a conversation with Huang Xu, demanding that he follow their instructions. He threatened Huang Xu with the loss of his job.

In order to keep his job, Huang Xu gathered nearly his entire family together on July 20th, intending to have his parents sent to the police station. However, his family members refused to go along with it.

On the afternoon of July 21st, Huang Xu brought materials from the 610 Office, all of which slandered Falun Gong, and demanded that his parents read them. His parents refused. Huang Xu then reported this situation to He Weijin.

On July 22nd, Huang Xu threatened his parents and swore that he would not to stop pressuring and harassing them until he succeeded in sending them to the brainwashing centre.

At 7:30 a.m. on August 13th, due to their son's direct involvement, Mr. Huang Shilin and Ms. Yang Ying were arrested on their way to a food market by officials from the 610 Office and the police department in Longquanyi District. The officials sent the couple to the Xinjin Brainwashing Centre.
