In the A'cheng District in Harbin lived a family of four: a beloved mother and her three daughters. The three daughters had witnessed the miracles of Falun Gong, and one by one came to practise it. They all benefited from the practice. But since the persecution began in 1999, all three sisters have faced severe torment. The youngest sister suffered mental disorders due to the persecution. Two members in the family have since passed away.

The oldest daughter, Ms. Ping Guizhen, is 61. The youngest daughter, Ms. Ping Guifang, is 47. They both worked at the Farming Machine Repair Factory at A'cheng. The middle daughter, Ms. Ping Guilan, 57, works at the A'cheng Textile Factory.

In July 1999, the Chinese Communist Party and former president Jiang Zemin initiated the persecution of Falun Gong. In October 2000, the three sisters went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong. Ms. Ping Guilan returned safely, but Ms. Ping Guizhen and Ms. Ping Guifang were both arrested.
They were detained in the Huairou Detention Centre for five days, followed by five days in the Harbin Liaison Office. Later, Zhao Yazhou from Heping Police Station in the A'cheng District brought them home. The two sisters were taken to the A'cheng No. 2 Detention Centre. They were released after 17 days. Since then, their workplaces and the police have often harassed them and placed them under constant surveillance.

Towards the end of 2001, Ms. Ping Guifang was working in a market. The managers at her workplace, Chen Yilin and Li Wei, conspired with the 610 Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong] and officers from Heping Police Station. They arrested Ms. Ping Guifang and viciously beat her. The police grabbed her by her hair and smashed her head against the wall and concrete poles. She was brutally tortured before she was sent to A'cheng No. 2 Detention Centre. While in the detention centre, Ms. Ping Guifang went on a hunger strike. As a result, she was force-fed and viciously beaten several times. After each beating, she had to be carried back to her room. After more than four months of this treatment, she spent another three days at a brainwashing centre. By then she was suffering from severe mental trauma due to the inhuman treatment and torture.

In May 2002, Ms. Ping Guizhen was seized by the police. Her workplace managers, Chen Yilin and Li Wei, along with Yang Jianbo from Xichen Police Station, had her detained in the A'cheng No. 2 Detention Centre for over a month. When her sister, Ms. Ping Guifang, went to Xichen Police Station demanding that Guizhen be released, Guifang was also sent to the A'cheng No. 2 Detention Centre. A week later, both sisters were released. After this incident, Ms. Ping Guifang had a mental breakdown, and she is often in a daze. The youngest sister similarly became mentally unstable. The two older sisters were frequently harassed, arrested, and detained, and their mother lived in fear and sadness, under great mental pressure.

On September 30th, 2002, the police again arrested Ms. Ping Guizhen. She was detained in the A'cheng No. 1 Detention Centre for over seven weeks, then sent to Wanjia Forced Labour Camp. She was released on May 29th, 2005.

Their mother, under continued harassment, finally passed away in May 2004.

In October 2008, Ms. Ping Guizhen and Ms. Ping Guilan were arrested by Ashihe Police Station officers for telling people the facts about Falun Gong. The police extorted 12,000 yuan1 from them.
