Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Lang Huiqun of Weifang City, Shandong Province is in her sixties. She was arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities and sent to a forced labour camp in March 2009. While in the forced labour camp, Ms. Lang was severely tortured. Some of her teeth were knocked out, and she was injured from numerous beatings. She had to sleep on a wooden plank on the floor for over five months. She is still recovering from the ordeal. She is unable to stand up straight, her feet are too swollen to wear shoes, her legs are too swollen to bend, and she has difficulty walking. She also has severe mouth pain and has trouble eating.
Sometime after 8:00 a.m. on March 5th, 2009, Ms. Lang Huiqun was explaining the facts about Falun Gong to a young woman named Xu Aijun while at a bus stop in East Weifang. She didn't know that Xu Aijun had been hired by Baotong Street Police Station in Gaoxin District, Weifang City, and had secretly recorded the conversation, later notifying the police. Officers then arrested Ms. Lang.
Zhang Guochang of Baotong Street Police Station then reported to the Gaoxin District Public Security Sub-bureau, and Ms. Lang was taken to the sub-bureau at noon. The security chief of the Gaoxin District Public Security Sub-bureau subsequently led Zhang Guochang and five police officers to ransack Ms. Lang's home.
Ms. Lang was again taken to the sub-bureau on the morning of March 19th, where she was forced to take a blood test and have photographs taken. She was then held at Weifang Detention Centre for a month, before being sent on April 18th to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp to serve a sentence of one year and three months.
At Wangcun Forced Labour Camp, Ms. Lang was awoken at 5:00 a.m. every morning, and was not allowed to sleep until very late, sometimes not until 2:00 a.m. She was not allowed to wash her face, take a shower, or wash her clothes. Ms. Lang underwent brainwashing every day, and was forced to write a guarantee statement to renounce practising Falun Gong. She was also forced to stand near the toilet for a long time, and after being forced to stand for over ten days straight, Ms. Lang's legs became too swollen to bend. She was not allowed to use the toilet, nor allowed to wash her pants after they accumulated urine and discharged pus from her swollen legs. Even after the forced labour camp diagnosed Ms. Lang with heart disease, she was still forced to stand. When she could not stand any longer and sat down, she was pulled back up again. Because she would not wear a prison uniform, Li Wen, the team leader of Section 4, Division 1, beat Ms. Lang, loosening her teeth. Li Yue and Shen Ran also deliberately stepped on Lang Huiqun's anklebones.
On the night of December 4th, Ms. Lang suddenly developed chest pain and vomited, and she was so weak that she was bedridden for over two months. When her family asked for her release on medical parole, they were turned away. Because Ms. Lang shouted "Falun Gong is good," she was subjected to further abuse, which caused further injury. Forced labour camp Commissar Wang Jun ordered Administration Section Chief Chen Suping, Division 1 Chief Zhang Yan, and Deputy Chief Li Yue to cuff her to window bars in the strict discipline office. While this was happening, a policeman punched her in the face, resulting in one tooth being knocked out, and two teeth being loosened. Chen Suping stuffed Ms. Lang's mouth with two towels, which shortly filled with blood, while her hair was forcefully pulled and her mouth sealed with tape.
For over four months, Ms. Lang Huiqun was locked up in a room every day, and was not allowed to leave the room or talk. She could not wash her face or body, or wash her clothes. She ate and used the toilet in the same room, and the door was kept closed even on hot days. After a while, the room stank badly. Her feet were festering with pus and blood, and she dared not walk.
