Mr. Shao Lirong, a retired teacher from Longquan Township, Jimo City, Shandong Province, died at age 69 on September 19th, 2010 due to the long-term persecution of Falun Gong conducted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). He was recognized as a good teacher at Yujiatun Village Elementary School and Longquan Township Eighteenth Middle School.
On September 13th, 2006, Mr. Shao was arrested and taken to the Chaohai Police Station in Jimo while he was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Officers bound his feet and hands and beat him so violently that he lost consciousness. Upon waking up, he vomited blood and was forced to drink washing water. He was sentenced to three years in prison and held in Jinan Prison, Shandong Province.
Prison guards ordered prisoners to beat him when he refused to give up his belief. They deprived him of sleep and attempted to force him to write the so-called "repentance statements" to renounce practising Falun Gong. After suffering long-term torture, he was released in February 2009.
Upon his return, personnel from the Jimo 610 Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong], Longquan Township Police Station, and the village committee repeatedly harassed him and forced him to write a guarantee statement to give up the Falun Gong exercises.
In May 2010, the 610 Office made him sign an article defaming Falun Gong. They withheld his pension so his family would suffer long-term mental and financial stress. Due to the persecution, Mr. Shao Lirong became bedridden and died on September 19th, 2010.
