Ms. Chen Juxiu, Ms. Lai Tumei, and Ms. Gu Jiuju from Xintian County, Hunan Province, were arrested on the morning of October 17th, 2010, as they distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in Tangshi Town, Guiyang County. They were taken to the Liufeng Police Station and then transferred to the Guiyang Detention Centre that same afternoon.
The detention centre officials called the three practitioners' families on October 21st, and told them to deliver clothing to the centre. That same morning, Xintian County 610 Office agent (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) Jiang Xianju, Chengdong Police Station head Deng Guobin, and officials from Longquan Town ransacked the three practitioners' homes. Between October 17th and 30th, the Liufeng Police Station head led officers in interrogating the three practitioners in the detention centre.
Liufeng Police Station head and other officers went to the detention centre on November 1st, and claimed that they would send the practitioners home. Instead, they handcuffed them together. The practitioners only realised where they were taken when the police vehicle stopped at the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp.
Ms. Chen was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour, and Ms. Lai and Ms. Gu were each given a one-year sentence. After a physical examination in the labour camp and the hospital, a guard ordered Ms. Gu to sign a document stating that her health was good enough for forced labour.
Because the physical examinations disqualified both Ms. Chen and Ms. Lai, the head of Liufeng Police Station and other officers took them back to the Guiyang Detention Centre that same day. The next day, the head of Liufeng Police Station and a driver took the two practitioners to the Chengxi Police Station in Xintian County. They called the practitioners' families to take them home after keeping the practitioners handcuffed for more than an hour.
