Chongqing Police Department officers arrested more than a dozen practitioners and ransacked their homes on the morning of November 16th.
As soon as Mr. Zhang Shengquan stepped outside of his home at 7:00 a.m. on November 16th, before he could even lock the door, more than a dozen plainclothes police officers attacked him, forcibly dragged him back inside his home and beat him. They ransacked the house and took Mr. Zhang and his wife to the Dayanggou Police Station in the Yuzhong District of Chongqing. Mr. Zhang's wife was released at 1:00 a.m. on November 17th, but Mr. Zhang was detained in the Liziba Detention Centre in the Yuzhong District. Mr. Zhang's family is under surveillance.
Mr. Du Hanwen from Shiqiaopu of Chongqing left home in the morning on November 16th but did not return that night. The next day his family found that his house was ransacked and a computer and some other personal items were gone.
More than a dozen officers from the Dayanggou Police Station and the Gaoxin District Police Station arrested Mr. Zhang Shengxue, from Baimadang in Shiqiaopu, at around 7:00 a.m. on November 16th. The officers also confiscated two computers and a mobile phone.
Police officers from the Liulongpo Police Station arrested Ms. He from the Xinqiao area at around 7:00 a.m. on November 16th at her sister's home. Ms. He may be held in the Huayan Detention Centre, but her whereabouts could not be confirmed.
Ms. Zhang Xiaoqing from Beibei District was arrested at around 5:00 p.m. on November 16th at her home in Chenjiaping. Her whereabouts are unknown.
Shangqingsi Police Station deputy head Zhong Fabo led officers to arrest Mr. Du and his wife Ms. Tong from Daping District. They are being held in the Liziba Detention Centre in the Yuzhong District (Tel. 86-23-63616732).
Ms. Qiu and her daughter-in-law Ms. Jiang from Daping District were arrested at home.
Ms. Yang Guangping, who came from Guizhou Province to live with her son's family in Chongqing, was also arrested.
Ms. Yang Guangbi from Shiqiaopu and Liu Jianping from Erlang, both in their 60s, were arrested while talking to people about Falun Gong in Huangjiaoping.
Several other practitioners from Jiulongpo and Huangnipang in the Jiangbei District were also arrested on the morning of November 16th. Their homes were ransacked.
The police are searching for Ms. Li Hua.
