Ms. Zhu Ying was a Falun Gong practitioner in Xinxiang City, Henan Province. She was also a former member of the National People's Congress and a national model worker. On September 27th, police officer Wei Guanglei deceived her out of her home, arrested her, and took her to a detention centre. Ms. Zhu Ying was then persecuted to death at 4 a.m. on November 30th. To cover up the evidence of how she was killed her body was cremated in Xinxiang City Crematorium on December 2nd.
Ms. Zhu Ying was arrested on the evening of September 27th, less than two months after she was released from a prior detention. Officials from the Dongdajie Police Station of the Hongqi Police Department in Xinxiang City, including Wei Guanglei, deceived her into leaving her home and going downstairs where they arrested her. Ms. Zhu was previously harassed, arrested and detained twice, once in September 2009 and again in April 2010.
Ms. Zhu Ying was admired by her employers and co-workers and was honoured as a national model worker. She had suffered from cancer but after practising Falun Gong she fully recovered from her illness.
In September 2009, Ms. Zhu Ying and Ms. Liu Jianxin were arrested while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. Ms. Zhu Ying was given over one year of imprisonment, served the sentence and was released from prison. Ms. Liu Jianxin was detained in the Xinxiang City Detention Centre for 14 days, and then was subjected to one year of imprisonment and detained in the Shibalihe Women’s Forced Labour Camp in Zhengzhou City. Before practising Falun Gong, Ms. Liu Jianxin suffered from cirrhosis of the liver, and for two years could only lay in bed. She recovered and was able to have a normal life after practising Falun Gong.
Around 1 p.m. on April 10th, 2010, Ms. Zhu Ying was arrested near the Xinxiang City Athletics Centre by officers from the Dongdajie Police Station in Xinxiang City, including Wei Guanglei and Liu Yongsheng. Officials from her company and the Dongdajie Police Station subsequently ransacked her home. They searched the place while her family was not at home. Officials from the Hongqi Police Department later arrested Ms. Zhu on April 23rd.
Ms. Zhu was held in the Xinxiang City Detention Centre before her death. It is said that the Ministry of Public Security is involved.
