Ms. Bi Jianhong Unable to Walk As a Result of Persecution at Jinan Women's Prison in Shandong Province

Agents from the Yantai 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) have colluded with officers at Jinan Women's Prison to persecute Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Bi Jianhong. Her health is rapidly deteriorating and her life is in danger.

Ms. Bi is from Yantai, Shandong Province. Agents from the Yantai 610 Office arrested her on October 15th, 2006. She was later sentenced to twelve years in prison. While in Jinan Women's Prison, Ms. Bi refused to renounce Falun Gong, and as a result the prison guards subjected her to torture, including beating and kicking, sleep deprivation, exposure to severe cold during the winter, and being forced to stand for long periods of time with all the windows open during the winter. When Ms. Bi held a hunger strike to protest the persecution, the guards force-fed her a concentrated salt solution, and pressured her to "reform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong]. When she declared that the "reform" statement was null and void, the guards started physically abusing her all over again. Her eyesight became blurred, and she was unable to walk. Her life was in danger in November 2009, and the prison authorities sent her home to shirk their responsibility.

As soon as she was released from prison, Ms. Bi resumed practising Falun Gong, and she quickly regained her health. Agents from the Yantai 610 Office learned about her recovery and then colluded with Jinan Women's Prison personnel in an attempt to take her back to the prison. Ms. Bi had to live away from home to avoid further persecution.

Ms. Bi was arrested on the evening of December 30th, 2010, as she was distributing information about Falun Gong. Officers from the Ermalu Police Station in the Zhifu District made the arrest.

Officers from Jinan Women's Prison drove to the Ermalu Police Station on the morning of January 1st, 2011, and took Ms. Bi back to the prison.

Ms. Bi has been on a hunger strike. When her family went to visit her, they found that her life was in danger and she was in the prison hospital. The injections that the hospital was administering to her made her extremely sick, and she was unable to walk. Her family is worried about her life, and demanded that prison officials immediately release her. The prison authorities said that the Yantai 610 Office refused to allow her to be released.
