Ms. Wang Liuzhen is a retired engineer from the Metallurgical Office of the Chang'an Factory, the Jiangbei District, Chongqing. She was subjected to forced labour twice for remaining steadfast in her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. As a result of mistreatment, she lost sight in both eyes. Jiangbei District officials forced her husband to divorce her and forbade her children from visiting her. On top of this, they sent people to take turns tracking and monitoring her around the clock, restricting her personal freedom.
To resist the persecution, Ms. Wang hasn't eaten anything for a long time. She is emaciated and trembles. She no longer has the strength to walk or speak. Her family went to the police department to ask officials when their around-the-clock tracking and monitoring of Ms. Wang would end. They were told that the community and street officials have taken charge. “They will take care of her case until the end of her life,” they said.
Seeing Ms. Wang so emaciated and weak, the perpetrators often urged her to commit suicide or set herself on fire. Ms. Wang said, “I'm Falun Gong practitioner. I won't commit suicide, nor will I die.”
Not long after Ms. Wang started practising Falun Gong in 1996, she recovered from many diseases. However, because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, she was arrested many times by officers from the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the Yuhuacun Police Station and officers from the Masses Work Section and local residence committee. She was sentenced to forced labour twice (the most recent being in May 2008). In the forced labour camp she was cruelly beaten many times. The guards mixed unknown drugs into detained practitioners' food. Many practitioners suffered from chest pain, dizziness, and confusion after they ate the contaminated food. Ms. Wang went on hunger strikes to protest the mistreatment, but she was tortured even more cruelly as a result. When she was in critical condition, she was taken to the 324 Military Hospital for treatment. She was also sent to a mental hospital three times and injected with unknown drugs. Ms. Wang became emaciated because of all the mistreatment she suffered, but she was not released until she was in critical condition.
To make her submit, 610 Office agents, community officials, and Chang'an No.2 Factory Retired Party Branch officials forced Ms. Wang's husband to divorce her. He was threatened and told his pension would be suspended if he did not obey. They also forced her children to sign a contract, forbidding them from visiting or taking care of their elderly mother; otherwise, they would lose their jobs.
Now she is alone and homeless. She tried to seek justice from the Political and Judiciary Committee of Jiangbei District, but they responded by assigning Zhang Jun, a 29-year-old man, to supervise another eight people from the Wulidian Security Company to monitor Ms. Wang around June 2010. They took three shifts to follow and monitor her 24 hours a day and kept her from coming and going as she pleased.
The eight people were each paid a monthly salary of 1,300 yuan1 by the Jiangbei District government.
Local police station officials hired two men in their 20s to monitor Ms. Wang around the clock every day. They concealed a camera in their clothing and followed Ms. Wang wherever she went, to make sure she had no contact with anyone else. In her feeble condition, when Ms. Wang tried to get on a bus, the two bullies pushed her and she fell. They ordered her not to speak, but she shouted, "Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good! Practising cultivation is not wrong. Stop the persecution and give me back my personal freedom."
Around 2011 New Year's Day, the thugs who monitored her beat Ms. Wang cruelly, breaking the bridge of her nose and bruising her eyes so badly that she couldn't open them. Ms. Wang said that they hit the left side of her face and eye a couple days ago, and a newly assigned thug surnamed Liu hit and broke her nose the previous night. Ms. Wang's face was covered with blood at that time. She said that her attacker hit her with a small wooden bench and threatened her, saying “I want to get rid of you tonight.”
